The article approaches the issue as a narrative rather than quantitative question (tap the sign), so it’s hard to see what balances out what. But it’s hard for me to take groups seriously raising alarm bells today if they didn’t say a word when 25% of NYC’s electricity went dirty almost overnight.
Speaking as a former reporter: reporters are generally innumerate. It is extremely rare to meet a reporter who considers themselves to be good at math.

IMO: Story misses two important elements. First, there was never a plan beyond handwaving for where the electricity would come from after the 2019 climate bill; two, it makes no mention of the Indian Point retirement (or Indian Point opponents trying to tie up the replacement project)
It feels very unfair to compare Cuomo-era climate plans with Hochul-era climate reality, while ignoring that the Cuomo-era reality was that 2 gigawatts of clean power came *off* the grid in one fell swoop at Indian Point – more than twice the solar/wind we have in total today!

Elon Musk and the Trump administration gleefully shutting down USAID “has already caused the deaths of six hundred thousand people, two-thirds of them children.”

People throw around terms like genocide quite freely online but it’s hard to find other words to describe this level of man-made death.

Reuters reached out to everyone that Trump or his subordinates singled out publicly for retribution, and reviewed hundreds of official orders, directives and public records. The result: the most comprehensive accounting yet of his campaign of payback.

This rural hospital closed, putting lives at risk. Is it the start of a 'tidal wave'?
Glenn Medical Center in Willows closed Oct. 21 after losing 'critical access' status. Many other California hospitals face the threat of a similar fate.

Cassidy in February: “If confirmed… CDC will not remove statements on their website pointing out that vaccines do not cause autism.”

A leader would not have lost eight colleagues tonight. This happened because you let it happen or because you’ve totally lost control of the caucus in one of the most important moments since you’ve been Democratic leader. Either way, it’s on you. You need to step down. We need someone who can lead.
Democrats have been fighting for months to address America's healthcare crisis

For the millions who will lose coverage
For people with cancer who won't get the care they need
For working families who can't afford to pay $25K more a year for healthcare

We will keep fighting
