Mamdani getting Trump to back down & even *compliment* him costs Mamdani absolutely nothing (& indeed actually shows his skills) & probably also saves a lot of vulnerable ppl in this city a trememndous amount of pain if it means Trump is less inclined to act shitty towards us bc of this meeting

Oh wow! This is what happens when you're photographing MSS & don't capture the text in the inner gutter. 1st, here's the photograph (made about 100 yrs ago) of the Codex Salernitanus, f. 82ra. Although that big tear of the page is obvious, the inner gutter hasn't been fully captured in the photo.

by this time next year, half of exurban and rural americans are gonna have claimed to have written in mitt romney
i have noticed that trumpers have shut the fuck up for the most part, just like these same people did when bush's approval went to the 20s. it was awesome, because you knew they didn't really believe he was wrong and were so mad all the mud-brained moderates turned on them
I don’t know if this reflects what others have seen in rural areas, but it has been a noticeable glimmer to me the last couple of times I was really out in the sticks.

I mentioned this before but if you go through early Dragon magazines and google the authors or even the letters page writers, a *remarkable* number of people were (mostly closeted or egged at the time) gay men or trans women.
also the wife of one of the great tabletop gaming pioneers, who was also a trans woman!

This is the hardest I have seen any member of Congress work to try and address transphobia in Congress, and her ability to get nearly all Democratic lawmakers to sign onto this letter is something any first would applaud
House Dems unite to tell GOP to stop "demonizing" trans people with "dehumanizing" slurs - LGBTQ Nation
Rep. Nancy Mace's "tra**y, tra**y, tra**y!" tirade is just one example.

Few if any mainstream/center-left parties are as good on trans rights as Democrats, and we don't do ourselves any favors by pretending otherwise.

Republicans are able to win because they make a pretty clear majority of voters. The racial polarization in the Deep South is insane. Gerrymandering and voter suppression are part of the equation but not all of it.
Alabama’s population is 28% Black and increasingly Hispanic. White Republicans are only able to rule by cheating. And when Dems invest no money in red states that becomes a self fulfilling prophecy

I thunk if Jones jumps in then you have all the evidence you need the envirownt is hitting near cataclysm for the GOP. Even then he's not favored to win in AL.
Doug Jones won before & if you doubt he can do it again, you’re not paying attention to Alabama.

Tuberville has a record, but so does Jones.

If Jones jumps in, the contrast couldn’t be greater. A real Alabaman who prosecuted a KKK cold case vs Florida man who treats the state like rental property.

The Democratic Party is far from perfect, but they are the coalition that has invited us in. To lose what we have won inside the Democratic Party would be catastrophic .

I am a democrat and I will never stop fighting for trans liberation both in this country and in our party.

This point absolutely correct and I will add that Mamdani demonstrates that an insurgency, even one with real moral clarity and anger at the status quo, can still be cheerful and inviting.

In my old town the GOP had run basically without serious challenge for decades. A bunch of us "millennials" joined the local Dem party and basically asked to help.

We were running it in a year. Within 4 years we had a majority of town seats flipped Dem. A FAR more progressive Dem than old party
“Rather than taking over the Democratic Party the same way the right took over the Republican Party, we should take the easier route and just start up a new party ourselves!”

I’m about to fill my pockets with stones and walk into the sea.
