Rewatching Empire and this has what new Star Wars lacks, the grime, the real

THE FORCE AWAKENS: Successfully evokes the Star Wars Feeling. Is barely more than an aesthetic/sonic exercise. Overly reverent and hollow.

THE LAST JEDI: Boldly irreverent and visually rich. Substantial. Kinda cloying and cutesy. Tries a little too hard to be clever.

THE RISE OF SKYWALKER: Yikes.

Immediately turned the show from solid pulpy space adventures to Star Wars Corporate Product

It didn't outright kill my enthusiasm for the show, but it was the beginning of the end for me:

The season two finale of THE Mandalorian, where all the main characters stand around watching a character from the Original Trilogy doing all the cool shit.
What’s an episode of a TV show that was so bad it made you quit watching it altogether?

For me, it was this 2012 Doctor Who Christmas special, which contained the same tired “Doctor WHO?” joke no fewer than four times

I feel like this and Cats 2019 is when the universe broke and was a sign of the coming dark times, a slow anti-intellectual canary in the coal mine that should've warned us all.

Safe to say I did NOT like this movie.

I used to be really into Star Wars in the mid-2010s and this movie alone killed every single bit of interest I had in the franchise lol

So

I’m not one to hate on stuff often, at worst I’ll just not care.

I’m someone who actually really enjoyed The Last Jedi.

But I thought this movie was fucking *awful* before I had even finished watching it in theater holy shit, I’ve never been more upset about a piece of media before

Every once in a while I am reminded that there are some people who unironically like the Star Wars prequels and it makes me feel like a space alien

I anyone actually excited for this movie? Like, was there really such high demand for a movie based on a show that's already better than most Star Wars movies? I haven't even seen anybody talk about the story, just the fact that it's happening

I am still waiting for a single frame of Mando & Grogu that doesn't make me go, "Oh no... this is going to suck."

maybe that's not a proper use of the psychology language, but that movie gave me trauma. i felt hurt, dismissed, mocked, and laughed at by #tros. just a jab after jab

all that right before the pandemic too, and everything that went crazy in the following years.

still healing. fighting to heal.

I don't get why these The Mandalorian And Grogu trailers look like they were made on a $10 budget? I guess it's intentional?

Seeing deep fake Luke killed what little Star Wars enthusiasm i had left after TROS, so no, it was actually one of the worst moments of all time.
Fuck off #starwarsisdead

Happy anniversary to TFA, the movie that was once thought of a s a new beginning fodbthe franchsie after the polarizing prequels, now recognized as the beginning of the end for this once great franchise. It's only legacy now is nostalgia bait and false promises. #starwarsisdead
