I wonder if we’ll reach a point where AI systems are nearly indistinguishable from human minds but still not “conscious” that we have no choice but to conclude that consciousness has always been an illusion, a lie we tell each other to set us apart from other animals (and sometimes people).

So Ted Cruz is worried the 10 year ban on state regulation for GenAi won’t make it (because it isnt related to the budget). So what does this weasel do? Trying to make funding of broadband expansion conditional to States not passing ANY GenAi laws.

Call your Senators because this is BS!
Ted Cruz bill: States that regulate AI will be cut out of $42B broadband fund
Cruz attempt to tie broadband funding to AI laws called “undemocratic and cruel.”…

if you’re cis, a useful metaphor for you: the govt taking our HRT is equivalent to the govt forcibly transitioning you or cutting out your testes or ovaries against your will. Imagine that happening to you or your family. It is a violation so deep that words fail. That’s what we’re living with.
I realise that to cis people, when trans people lose access to gender-affirming care, it seems like we're bitching about not getting our little treats.

I have more than one friend whose body is currently falling apart because it no longer makes its own hormones and the government banned their HRT.

Letting Trump ignore any court except the Supreme Court is such a fucking stupid strategy.
Schumer: "If he defies the Supreme Court, then we are in uncharted territory ... our entire democracy is at risk. I believe that if Donald Trump should defy the courts, the public will rise up. Democrats will fight it in every single way ... autocrats only succeed if the public lets them."

Elon Musk recently posted on his site that another lawyer and I are “undermining civilization.” He goes on to ask if we suffered childhood trauma and concludes by suggesting we are suffering from “generational trauma.” This is my response. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/my-o...

People fleeing Germany leading up to the third reich had some benefit of distance. There’s no place on Earth you can run to today that won’t be directly affected by what’s happening in US.

So ask yourself: Do I fight now, here, for my home? Or suffer in a strange land against an entrenched enemy?

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

There is a simple solution to the CBS/Trump lawsuit.

The Harris campaign should sue Fox and insist Fox release the unedited versions of all their many edited interviews with Trump.

I saw a post on the St. Louis subreddit today where people were arguing that there's no point in calling Ann Wagner's office, because she's a MAGA-aligned idiot who will never switch sides or acquiesce to the demands of her constituents.

But that underestimates the power of being a fucking problem
