Here's my panorama of dusk in Death Valley/Badwater Basin on Saturday. This was an error filled session and the water isn't perfectly aligned. I was glad to capture the ripples but couldnt get them totally aligned right. Maybe someday I'll spend more time on it digitally, but not soon.

With Trump going full authoritarian on Venezuela-Greenland, ICE, and the Fed, the response has to be serious. Four Republican senators (Tillis, McConnell, Murkowski, Collins?) could announce they’ll caucus for now with the Dems to give them control of the Senate to check Trump.

In my world, there's a certain reluctance to being merely, or in a knee-jerk way, a resist lib. That's understandable, even commendable. On the other hand, let's be clear: It's a hell of lot better, morally and intellectually and politically, to be a resist lib than a Vichy conservative.

The “if she had complied, she’d still be alive” line that we’re hearing from ICE defenders is the mantra of apologists for security forces in dictatorships through the ages.

The reactionary centrist logic is simple: if the left does something bad it’s the left’s fault, and if the right does something bad, it’s also the left’s fault for making them do it. It’s a simple formula and once you see it every one of their arguments is the same

Everybody should watch this and see this woman, who has a baby in her arms and is thrust into basically a standoff, develop courage in real time.

A reminder that people think Adam Vintatieri is the best clutch kicker ever because:

1) He had 47 clutch attempts, and no other kicker since 1978 has had more than 36.

2) He was 5-for-5 in the playoffs.

From a career percentage persective, he was actually kind of average!
Jim Armstrong has updated our clutch FG records.

The best kicker (min 10 attempts) is in the playoffs: Jake Elliott of the Eagles at 13 of 13.

The best kicker (min 20 attempts) is in the playoffs: Matt Prater of the Bills at 25 of 26.

The best kicker (min 30 attempts) is Justin Tucker: 29 of 33.

yes! a good number of MAHA-approved products are just repurposed waste from beef production
i'm not saying this as anyone who knows anything about health; i'm saying it as someone who is an alleged expert in interest group politics: the American beef industry is all over MAHA, wellness, and podcast spaces.

remember "bacon mania?" totally a marketing strategy by the pork industry.
New federal dietary guidelines give federal approval to beef tallow, a fat that both cardiologists and the U.S. government told Americans to avoid for nearly half a century.

He’s too emotional.
A woman recording an ICE agent tells him "Shame on you."

The agent responds, "Have you all not learned from the past couple of days?"

"Learned what?" she asks

Then he knocks her phone out of her hand

My suspicion, cannot prove it: Stephen Miller responded to 12/24 SCOTUS ruling that he can't deploy the Guard bc the Regular Forces have to fail first by figuring out what crimes he would need to commit to invoke the Insurrection Act.

I love the fact that Bari Weiss' desire to ideologically micromanage reporting while failing to understand distribution has burned her at least twice already
