THREAD: Most of my thoughts on games these days are posted on Backloggd, where I review games as I beat them.
Here's the first four of the year from me: Call of Duty 3 and the OG Modern Warfare trilogy. I'll throw up more here as they happen.

I love Nightdive and they do great, important work, but they announced work on a Blood remaster 7 years ago to this date, and it's still a can being kicked down the road after two different releases. Their FPS remasters are usually amazing, but if you wanna play Blood, use Raze or NBlood instead.

I don't think Doom 3's a very good video game, but it is absolutely at its best when it forces you to choose between the ability to shoot and the ability to see what the hell is happening. If you're any good at shooters, there's too much firepower and ammo for it to be effective horror otherwise.
The correct Doom 3 experience is the original one, where you must choose between having your flashlight or your weapon equipped.

I have come around HARD on Halo in the past five years but sometimes I feel like I'm crazy with how much people talk up CE in particular. Forget the Library, that whole second half of the campaign is just the first half backwards because the game was rushed to hell, and it is not great.
As two popular launch titles, the gulf in quality and playability between Halo Combat Evolved on Xbox and Call of Duty 2 on 360 is so vast. Halo absolutely decimates COD2 in retrospect and it’s not even close in my book. COD2 has aged horribly - Halo remains a classic.
