you end up as Schrodinger's refugee, as the Danes call it. On one hand as a migrant you have to integrate, learn the language, raise your kids as British, etc. On the other from one day to the next you may be sent "home" to a country your kids have never known.

Have to say I find the proposals to take away the route to permanent settlement of refugees both shocking and repulsive. It's code for 'whatever you do and contribute you can never become one of us so we won't allow you to try.' Racism, pure and simple.

🚨 SHOCKING 🚨

A HUGE illegal waste dump has appeared between the A34 and River Cherwell, linked to organised crime.

Every rainfall risks toxins washing into the river.

We’re calling on the Environment Agency & Cherwell Council to act NOW.

Our rivers cannot wait. 👇👇

English councils plan to sell off social clubs and sports centres to balance books.

Social spaces lost forever. Libraries, community centres, school playgrounds, parks closed/sold as council funding cut in real terms to appease the rich.

Social vandalism.

In 2008, Geoffrey published ‘Gaza: unlock this prison’.

It was one of a number of international interventions: calling for Blair to be tried for invading Iraq, on the war on terror, on the European Court, and more.

He died on 4 November. He was 92.

🔉What dangers does X pose to our democracy? And should the government stop using it?

Good to hear yesterday from @sundersays.bsky.social and @petergeoghegan.bsky.social on the immense risk of X as it ignores legal obligations and its owner tries to influence UK politics.

A high-carbon ad ban would have an even bigger impact.

We don’t allow cigarette ads anymore and air pollution alone from burning fossil fuels kills around as many as tobacco. 🚭🚗💨

Did you know you pay more fuel tax on a single car journey than a billionaire does on a private jet flight?

Right now the gov is subsidising tax breaks, when they could be using that tax to generate billions for public services.

The government spends £2.7 BILLION a year on TAX BREAKS for oil and gas companies

Those companies pay billions to their shareholders

And then lay off their workers

Think that's unfair?

Tell Rachel Reeves to stop propping up oil and gas companies and back workers instead…

In short, the problem here is not that Signal ‘chose’ to run on AWS. The problem is the concentration of power in the infrastructure space that means there isn’t really another choice: the entire stack, practically speaking, is owned by 3-4 players. 11/

It's a strange practice in my opinion.

They boast about their emission savings and revenue, but are not transparent about what impact the sales of their emission credits means for their footprint.

Should be reported when vehicles are sold and in impact reports.
