Yet despite achievements like this, we still give ad space to companies threatening our health. 🤔

In a single generation we built the internet - an advance that has given us the ability to learn anything. 📖

But we still can't seem to learn that promoting polluters is self-destructive. 🤔

We can monitor the health of our forests and climate from space - a technology unthinkable just three generations ago.

Yet even as we see the damage pollution is doing from orbit, we still promote the industries driving it. 🤔

Each year, human ingenuity cures some of the world’s most deadly diseases. 🧪

Yet when science tells us to stop polluting the planet, we continue to promote the industries responsible. 🤔

The FIFA President once held up a “green card for the planet” and promised to halve its emissions by 2030 🌍

But years of cosying up to Putin, the rulers of Qatar, MBS and President Trump have ensured the world’s favourite sport is a plaything for oil funded authoritarians 🛢️

We need to ban ads on TfL that promote fossil fuels. I spoke to the Maor about how cities like Gothenburg already ban fossil fuel ads on public transport.

Good to see the Mayor taking this call seriously.

Shout out to @badvertising.bsky.social for the Southwark station campaign.

🚆 In 2019 Transport for London introduced a ban on junk food advertising.

Despite facing fierce lobbying, Sadiq Khan pushed ahead with the ban to protect public health. 🍎

So - why are harmful polluting industries still able to advertise across London? 🧐 🧵 1/5

💨 In 2025, a report from the Royal College of Physicians found that air pollution contributed to 30,000 deaths in the UK in 2025 and cost the UK upwards of £27 billion annually – and may be as much as £50 billion when wider impacts, such as dementia, are accounted for.

🚘 🔥 If SUVs were a country they’d be the world’s 5th biggest emitter – more than Germany or Japan. In the decade from 2010, SUVs were the second-largest contributor to the increase in global CO2 emissions.
