OK. Seeing how I have been drawn into this....

Dear American commentators: Not every part of the world is the same as the USA. Advising people in the UK to do things that would send them to prison is unethical and makes you look like an overinsulated idiot.

Alan Carr: Odysseus. He could betray his closest friend without hesitation. He’s clever, plausible, entertaining and ruthless. His greatest liability? Running his mouth off and getting himself into trouble...

It’s the 111th anniversary today of the birth of Harry Rée, who was a teacher and conscientious objector when the Second World War broke out, and by the time it ended, when he was 31, had invented ‘blackmail sabotage’ and got a DSO, an OBE, a Croix de Guerre, and a Medaille de la Resistance

Douglas Barrowman and Michelle Mone's company, PPE Medpro, has just been ordered to refund the Government £122m from a PPE contract.

There are two very odd things about PPE Medpro that may affect the odds of the Government ever getting that £122m...

In the last few days, we've assembled independent theatres in LA, New York, San Francisco, Minneapolis and Chicago to air this thing.

Jeffrey Epstein: Bad Pedophile will be in theatres on October 2nd after all, followed by the first theatrical screening of Sex House. It is going to be fun as hell.

NEW: Britain’s fiercest libel firm, Carter-Ruck, acted for the $4bn OneCoin fraud and threatened its critics. Now they’re being prosecuted at the SDT.

Their response? An anonymity order to cover it up. But Carter-Ruck just lost that order - and it's all coming out.

Gonna take this opportunity to bust a bit of a myth about the mobile phone network during 7/7.

The wider London phone network never went down. The Security Services, TfL and the Met Police all wanted it up.

But it DID go down briefly in the Square Mile. Due to a C&C issue nobody had spotted. /1
Wasn’t that partly because they shut it down because there was a possibility it was being used to remotely detonate bombs?

One other 7/7 thread today. Because I think how the bus network got running again is a real testament to some serious heroes that day:

The bus drivers and staff who got that network running again and got London home that night.

And TfL/the Mayor disobeyed the Security Services to make it happen /1

thinking of getting into pre-code cinema, because I think we can all agree I don't have enough hobbies - where should I start? any recs, especially for someone who's almost entirely used to modern films?

This is about truth, democracy, and how we build a more resilient society.
