In biggest land-back deal in California history, the Yurok get back the final piece of 73 sq mi of their homeland on the state's far northern Klamath River. Good piece by Grist highlights how this Yurok land deal is just part of the extraordinary changes taking place in this part of N America.

This is a shockingly mistaken understanding of due process by Stephen Miller. It is likely this misunderstanding that is informing the President’s misunderstanding.

Again, he's a Special Government Employee, which is a government consultant that can be brought on for a short period of time to provide specific knowledge. They have no decision-making authority or management authority, they report directly to a fed employee. That's it. Press could drumbeat this.
If he & others are Special Government Employees, here are some additional questions to ask:

- who is the sponsoring agency and the supervisor of record?
- have they filed the required financial conflicts of interest paperwork and have any conflicts been adjudicated?

This is completely terrifying, a huge violation of the first amendment, and part of the coopting of a distorted version of anti-semitism to justify persecution of people speaking out against Israel's genocide. And the broader pursuit of a police state.
Not sure if this has been shared here yet, but this is video of Rumeysa Ozturk's arrest posted by WCVB. It's terrifying.

It's critical for everyone to remember what an Executive Order is. It is the President communicating orders to members of the executive branch. Policies to pursue, actions to take, etc. They are not laws. They are not close to being laws. They are formalized memos to employees. That's all.
