A study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine found that cutting back on saturated fats reduces the risk of heart attack and stroke. A roadkill-eating, whale-decapitating heroin addict says Americans should eat more saturated fats. For busy eaters, it can be hard to know who to trust.

People want to believe that the GOP’s electoral success in red states is the result of dirty tricks and gerrymandering instead of the sincerely held beliefs of a majority of the population because a mechanical issue is easier to fix than wrestling with how to make people not believe what they do.

I can't trust her apology, but there has to be a way to try to get gettable people when they finally see some light. There's value in someone apologizing even when they haven't changed as a person because it's the first crack in the wall.
We’re truly living in the upside down. MTG just apologized on CNN for her role in spreading “toxic politics” after she received death threats from MAGA supporters.

Chait's idiotic commentary reminds me that whites typically think candidates of color are more economically liberal than they are, find them deceitful, and punish them more on character. Racial prejudice on full display here.
Damn, I hate it when things that happen mean nothing :-(

America is not building enough housing and Americans are facing sky-high housing costs as a result.

Today, the Senate took a historic step to change that.

The ROAD to Housing Act will help communities – urban, suburban, and rural – build more housing and bring down costs.

Ironically, this reminds me of political science research showing voters assume women are more liberal than they are.
Now that Bari Weiss has ascended to a powerful position at an influential network with a PR machine, I am seeing outlets that cover media like Puck and Mediaite present her as a "centrist" who might even challenge Trump.

That is such a deep and willful misreading of her oeuvre.

No. Creating such an enormous political coalition enabled the passage of the civil rights act. Yes, leaving segregation untouched until the 40s was terrible, but the New Deal provided enormous economic help to Black Americans and enabled the ending of pro forma segregation.
Isn’t the inevitable corollary of this “civil rights was a mistake”

Mr President, I wish more people would follow your example.
After years of complaining about cancel culture, the current administration has taken it to a new and dangerous level by routinely threatening regulatory action against media companies unless they muzzle or fire reporters and commentators it doesn’t like.
Let’s be clear about what happened to Jimmy Kimmel
Trump’s most brazen attack on free speech yet.

This is actually another example of how reducing political debates to private, interior feelings has been a mistake that too much of the center-left has made in recent years. See also the language of "feeling unsafe" on campus, now used to shut down student protests.

Fear of crime: an unholy alliance between politicians that need a cudgel, local news that needs clicks, social media's ability to share viral anecdotal crime stories, police that need justification to exist, and the fact that police/surveillance tech is a multi-billion dollar industry, and racism.
What the data says about crime in the U.S.
Federal statistics show dramatic declines in U.S. violent and property crime rates since the early 1990s.

Third Way is actually right about this. The Left is way out in the woods using bespoke language to sidestep substantive arguments.

Example: Equity. The term is a surrender of the full meaning and understanding of what social justice should really be about: equality.
Scoop: Third Way is circulating a memo, shared first with @playbookdc, featuring a new blacklist of words Dems shouldn’t use.

This isn't directly about the below but: Liberals have a horrible habit of retrenching to what they think is the inarguable logical middle rather than taking the time to fully understand the intellectual territory of a given issue or topic. The real problem is they don't know how everyone thinks.

I think government should do more to collect a return for taxpayers when making strategic investments.
The problem here is the hypocrisy of the business class. They'd revolt if a Democrat did this. A law would never make it out of congress requiring this trade. And R judges would overturn it.
Nvidia Amd, MP, intel weren’t his enemies.

Now on the other hand, Oligarchs (as defined by progressives) and billionaires are what to progressives, if not an opportunity to get them to pay their “fair share “ ?

Can’t companies have a fair share , that is specified by the circumstances ?
Progressives value the rule of law and not allowing the president to use his vast powers to selectively punish his personal enemies, so here we are opposing a wealth tax (on one specific company that did not give Trump a gold watch) and defending John Bolton.

Trump long ago established that he’s a racist to the bone. He and his father wouldn’t rent to Black people. He said, “Laziness is a trait in Blacks.” He said some white supremacists in Charlottesville were “very fine people.”

Schatz is one of the POSes that sold out for the CR earlier this year and emboldened Trump's fascist lawlessness.

If they're shredding the Constitution and imposing a dictatorship on the country with NO checks, SHUT IT DOWN!
I think this is the right move. The thing about bipartisan compromise is that if the person exercising the powers of the presidency just laughs and doesn’t do the stuff you bought with your vote and the GOP Congress yanks it after the fact on his order, bipartisanship means nothing.
