awfully rich of JD to call someone out for being inauthentic. a yalie whose law prof helped him write a memoir where he threw his family under the bus in order to craft his up-from-appalachia persona before he toddled off to be a venture capitalist

Perhaps the vice president should have considered utilizing the services of the vast law-enforcement apparatus at his disposal, rather than googling conspiracy theories on the Internet.
JD Vance: "I remember watching every video of the assassination looking for clues, trying to understand what happened. I tried to hide my friend and that terrible bullet hitting him, but I would try to look around. I stayed up all night for many nights in a row researching every conspiracy theory."

I've had heated words with Yglesias on Twitter, always because of stuff like this. I said he doesn't offer hot takes, but parbaked takes. Smug in his ignorance, acting the expert. I ordinarily would just ignore somebody like this, but he has a huge audience and a lot of influence. Why? Who can say.
This Yglesias piece in the NYT is horrifically bad. Almost every "fact" it cites is provably false. At best it is cocktail party banter from a pundit who knows nothing of energy. At worst, it was cut/paste from oil industry talking points. So, a rebuttal: www.nytimes.com/2025/12/18/o...

The Longest Suicide Note In History

Trump's National Security Strategy isn’t really a strategy document at all: It's A Suicide Note.

If the ideas within it are really used to shape policy, then U.S. influence in the world will rapidly disappear.

I really hate that little sparkly icon which reminds me of all the human labor that was stolen to create a product that enriches the tech barons while contributing to the environmental destruction of the planet. I absolutely to NOT want to ask my book questions. I'm reading a book precisely because I want to get away from the beeps and the bots.

Any Corporate Media pretending that this is, in any way, a release of the Trump-Epstein Files despite it being (1) almost nothing (2) fully redacted (3) contains obvious fraud, is spreading obvious Trump disinformation: everyone involved in this “release” is breaking the law.
The White House has been caught.

The administration inserted a photo of Bill Clinton, Michael Jackson, and Diana Ross into the Epstein files and falsely implied it showed them with victims.

In reality, it’s a publicly available fundraiser photo featuring Jackson and Ross’s own children.

This release comes just one day before the Trump administration is required to release its full archive, and House Speaker Mike Johnson sent legislators home a day early, probably to try to avoid negative attention. trib.al/ibeCKdy
