I read the linked article and immediately had to think "wait, this isn't how Tiny Human is reading, right? No, I think we're okay" and breathed a small sigh of relief.

Forgot about this one, honestly. bsky.app/profile/sena...
Durbin lied on national television and said because Feinstein was sick and not physically there in person, it was impossible to issue subpoenas in regards to the SCOTUS corruption scandal.

But his own website specifically stated that they allowed proxy voting.
look at what this leadership did with oversight powers of SCOTUS in the middle of multiple devastating scandals for the conservatives. look at the half assed impeachments and half-assed oversight during the teens.

I loved the Expanded Universe novels, so my chief disappointment with the prequels is that it really didn't use any of the back history that had been hinted at in those books, and then I was well and truly mad when the whole EU was pitched into the Legends non-canon pile.

Admittedly it's been a long time since I watched them, but I do remember feeling like Episodes 1-3 could be edited down to create a relatively solid 45-minute TV episode.

Even with civil service protections, you can still fire someone for misconduct. It certainly feels like a record of disproportionate use of force in the sector you supervise could have been just cause for firing if his chain of command wanted to make a case for it.

In re: the post above, I feel like if I were in this position, before I collected seven of my colleagues to stick our necks out like this, I might ask myself "Self, when was the last time a Republican stuck their neck out for anyone on our side?" And I might ponder the answer for a while.

Oh, well, if he gave you his word... bsky.app/profile/burg...
Whoa -- Sen. Durbin went to up Leader Thune during the vote last night to tell him that on the shutdown vote and ACA promise that "8 of us are sticking our neck out that you're going to keep your word. I hope you will. He said 'I assure you I will,'" Durbin says just now

Good morning to all of NOT YOU, SENATOR
Dick Durbin suffers from a terminal case of Senate Brain, in which the big prize is a handshake deal with your distinguished colleagues where they'll allow you to hold a meaningless vote that you can then point to with pride to your constituents as they go broke from crushing medical bills.
Durbin said critics of his vote “need to understand how the Senate works”

It really does seem like there's a decent chance that these senators screwed us because they don't want their personal Thanksgiving plans to be disrupted.
Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

It sure would be a shame if a whole crop of experienced civil servants with intimate knowledge of government's inner workings, who had formerly been barred from running for partisan office by the Hatch Act, suddenly became available to be candidates because they got fired.

GET FUCKED, SENATOR, I DON'T THINK WE'RE THE ONES NOT UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE DOING IN THE SENATE AS AN OPPOSITION PARTY LEADER.

Dick Durbin stands on his own with his yes vote tonight to reopen the government

He’s the only Dem from a deep blue state to vote yes

Shaheen/Hassan - NH centrists
CCM/Rosen - NV (swing state)
Kaine - VA (fed workers)
Fetterman - ….
King - Maine independent

And then there’s Durbin

This man should be hounded out of the state after retirement. He can go live in Florida, I don't care.

Dick Durbin just voted for a clean budget that continues to fund terrorists like this. At the maximum point of leverage, he folds.
