✊ "In my book I show how many scientists have come to realize that making polite requests to those in power is no longer a viable option (if it ever was). Scientists-turned-activists are instead rising in resistance, contributing to anti-capitalist and anti-colonial movements around the world."

"Oil demand and emissions in the transport sector fell by 5% in the third quarter, but grew elsewhere by 10%, as the production of plastics and other chemicals surged."

#China is cutting oil demand in transport. Has that ever happened in Western countries?

The ocean has been hoarding heat. Now it is building up a massive 'burp.'
Even if humans cut emissions enough to reduce global temperatures, new research shows the Southern Ocean could kick warming back into gear.

the evidence overwhelmingly shows that if you simply give parents money… they will spend it on their children’s needs. so, you know, just DO that.

Vouchers? 😡

I remember behind a mum in a supermarket queue who had “food vouchers” (cos she was a refugee) & was trying to buy a small toy alongside her food. The cashier said she had to put it back. Both women, & the whole queue, looked mortified.

The next person behind paid for the toy, btw.
Scrapping the cap entirely is both good policy *and* good politics.

Half measures will "save" some money short-term, but will piss *everybody* off and still leave very large numbers of children suffering from a policy designed to make them poorer.

One other factor worth considering here is simply that climate and environment groups have themselves been at pains to actively try and bury, hide, and deprioritise climate from the way they walk about climate

Of course, when that happens, politicians and media have full freedom to cast it aside
The Post (me and @kcrowebasspro.bsky.social) analyzed the social media posts and appearances of prominent politicians across the country.

We found that no one is talking about climate change anymore. In 2025, mentions are 60% lower than in 2024.

There's this form of behavioral engineering/coercion going on to use AI when you're not even trying to. Ex: Enterprise Google Slides replaced "Upload an Image", with "Generate an Image" (right?), requiring extra work +adaptation to sidestep the AI-as-default push. It drives me bonkers.

It's funny how hard we have to work to convince the world that uncontrolle data centre expansion is a climate risk when there's a fossil gas power station called the EXXONMOBIL POWER PLANT being built explicitly to power a data centre
Not enough people know about Homer City. The single largest fossil fuel plant that's being built *explicitly* to power a data centre.

This isn't a future projection, or some hollow marketing. This is physical stuff happening right now.
