Thanks to all that shared and contributed - they reached their initial target last night! The stretch target is still in play so please do what you can do spread the word. These fine folks face serious risk of being imprisoned for a considerable amount of time, such is the state of UK protest law.

Interesting to compare the similarities of the imaginaries from the #AI risk community & the #Climate risk community.

Are we going to be saved or damned?

Q. How does one life a life/ plan a project in the face of this much systemic uncertainty?

If you're bewildered as to why you are being constantly told AI is going to revolutionise everything & that if you don't adopt it then you will be left behind, unemployed... then consider the fact that 92% of US GDP increase in 2025 was from AI investments. www.cnbc.com/2025/10/14/a...

Even if @bsky.app is an 'echo chamber', so what? I don't spend time trying to establish in-person conversations that I would find unpleasant even hurtful. X/Twitter is often a cesspool when it comes to issues I find interesting. And it's owned by the world's richest techno-fascist.
I've never understood the "echo chamber" argument. I see all sorts of stuff on Bluesky that I disagree with, but what I value about the community here is that we all just sidestep such content and move on to something else, rather than turning it into a life or death slanging match.

This is my basic recipe for dal – it’s the one I cook when I need a fresh pot of dal quickly. Ingredients: 300g split red lentils 900 ml water 1 medium / large white onion diced 6 &#821…

You really should ask James to come on and explore why Trees and Whales wont alone solve this- and why an immediate and decisive turnaround is now needed.

As awful as this, the focus on whether the woman was complying obscures the more important issue: in a democracy, there should not be armed agents demanding to see papers of every passing person.
“Traumatized, humiliated, degraded.”

It was the 3rd time she had been stopped and told to produce ID.

"Of particular concern is our finding that deep con-
vection in many models stops in the next decade or
two, and that this is a tipping point which pushes the
northern AMOC into a terminal decline from which
it will take centuries to recover, if at all." 😬
Collapse of key Atlantic current could bring extreme drought to Europe for centuries, study finds. @swinda.bsky.social
That's an under-appreciated impact of #AMOC shutdown, of particular concern given the recent results showing much higher likelihood of this. 1/2

How likely is an #AMOC shutdown? Here's our latest study based on 768 runs with 38 standard climate models (the CMIP6 models). Note these do not include any meltwater from Greenland mass loss, so might underestimate the risk a bit. 2/2
