No fan of Maduro, but no fan of Saddam Hussein either, and ‘no more wars’ Trump should remember regime change - even with allies as in Iraq - can have terrible unintended consequences

As a relative newcomer to Bluesky, can I wish you all a Happy Christmas - and may 2026 be very kind to you. I used to be quite prolific on Twitter before it turned toxic, but now make only occasional incursions on this platform, preferring to soak up all the wisdom of others. Thank you! 😀

Have become quite critical of Macron lately. But for the EU's sole nuclear power this is an important response.

My extremely well read daughter asked me recently who was my greatest hero in English literature. My answer of "Captain James Charles Bigglesworth" completely threw her. What are they teaching them at university these days? 🤔

When I'd spent 2 years at my old grammar school, some bright spark decided that I should drop History + replace it with Ancient Greek. My History knowledge is thus rather patchy. Thankfully my daughter is a Historian + introduces me to things like the Eleanor Crosses. This one's at Geddington

Reform politicians double down on their racism because they’re proudly racist.
Farage won’t apologise for his or his party’s racism because he needs his racist voters on side.
Reform is racist. Farage is racist.
Don’t call for apologies. Call them what they are.

If I were Rachel Reeves, I'd get the local police to raid the pub for underage drinkers and environmental health to go through the place like a dose of salts. HMRC too.
Thankfully, Reeves has, unlike hacks at The Mail on Sunday, more important matters.

Fun fact - The Daily Mail has not favoured a party other than the Tories since its support for the British Union of Fascists - a pattern that would end with an endorsement of Reform UK.

And all without painting any roundabouts…
"Migrants who came to the UK on skilled work visas in 2022-23 will make a net contribution of £47bn to the public finances over their lifetime, according to new estimates from the government’s Migration Advisory Committee."

Not surprising, but some observations (1/n)

They deleted the line in which I describe Donald Trump as “the most openly corrupt president in American history.” /1

Farage cited Enoch Powell as his political hero in an interview in Total Politics magazine in 2008.

In 2014 he cited Vladimir Putin as the world leader he most admired.

You want this guy as your next prime minister???

Absolutely right. I criticise BBC News, because we need it to be as good as we know it can be. People like Farage criticise the BBC, because they work for its competitors and don't want it to exist.
🎯 Davey is spot on. "We can have criticism of the BBC, but within that, we need to recognise how valuable an institution it is [and how] precious to our country. And that's one of the reasons why people like President Trump and Nigel Farage, want to undermine the BBC." 👏🏽~AA

This shocking claim was treated as fact by the channel which promoted the clip on social media where it was amplified by AI.

Get the info out there and repeat it regularly and with new content and new approaches.

It doesn't work if you post once and hope it reaches people. Keep doing it, like Steve Reed is doing here!
