I 100% agree that moneyed interests are the ones blocking housing.

The problem is that most people assume it’s CORPORATIONS and BILLIONAIRES - when actually it’s mom and dad and grandma and grandpa, voting for the city council /1

“Real solutions and positive experiences with government endanger the entire right-wing project” is why it’s so important to make experiences with government on the state and local level better
“If Trump seems weirdly obsessed with congestion pricing, it’s because he is. It’s important to them to stop this bold government solution to improve our lives because real solutions and positive experiences with government endanger the entire right-wing project.”

AOC with important process notes. None of this is set in stone. We know where dems stand, so important to lean on swing GOP seats. I know my parents will be calling Garbarino in NY-02
This vote was to start the process of the cuts. It WILL come back for a final vote.

There are some chances to slow or potentially stop it. Need constant pressure on GOP

Focus on GOP swing seats & key committees. Energy & Commerce is where the Medicaid fight will go down. Ways&Means for tax fight.
@aoc.bsky.social
Please explain what just happened. Is there no way to stop this w the reconciliation to be used by GOP to get around the filibuster? Are we sunk?

Does anyone know if the bike path through Draw 7 park is closed, or just the parking area? Decided to bike commute thanks to the thaw, and found a major part of the route closed, and can’t find any information @somervilleinfr1.bsky.social @universalhub.com

“Conservatism Consists of Exactly One Proposition, to Wit: There Must Be In-Groups Whom the Law Protects but Does Not Bind, Alongside Out-Groups Whom the Law Binds but Does Not Protect.”
GITMO preceded Trumpism but shares one of its central themes: there should be people outside the law, people with no rights anybody is bound to respect. That accompanies belief that there should also be people with rights superior to all others, people not bound by any law.
Glad to see that the judge acted so quickly on this. Based on NYT reports that the Trump Admin hasn't revealed the identities of who has been sent to Gitmo so far, it may be functionally impossible for people on the island to obtain a meaningful review.

If you try to build the dense housing that will support a transit/active transpo network: We don’t have the transportation infrastructure to support density!

This is so important. Reach out to your senators (I contacted Warren and Markey last night, but I knew they’d stand up on this one) glad to see the house Dems with more of a spine
1/ A tale of two strategies in the Democratic Party playing out right now: courage vs. capitulation, unity vs. fear. The Laken Riley Act is MAGA’s latest attack, and tomorrow, Senate Dems must decide (again): Will they fight for justice or enable cruelty? A 🧵 & a really urgent call to action.

Don’t let the angry car-brained pols from NJ and Staten Island drown out the real success congestion pricing has been. It’s success in NY will allow other cities in the US to dream
Ever since congestion pricing went into effect, school buses have been moving faster and getting more kids to school on time, one bus company told Streetsblog.

Data shared with Streetsblog shows school buses traveling faster and being late less since congestion pricing began.

I was on a tangent and happened upon a quote either from hayao miyazaki or someone studying him about the philosophy of Princess Mononoke: “No matter how messy it gets, we have to keep living” and that is not stuck in my brain

Gotta love the very specific genre of political snark that is MA Dems being like “I will support Tr*mp and Republicans in doing (thing they will never in a million years do)” Katherine Clark has been doing it for months, and saw an op ed in that vein from Warren this morning

The hits keep on coming. We don’t even have to fight about roadway pricing to save the @mbta.bsky.social (but we absolutely still should). Luckily, our previous taxing of rich people has got it covered

The line now seems to be “individual action can’t save us, we need collective action against the fossil fuel industry”. Mark me as cynical, but if people stop prioritizing climate when prices go up a little, I hesitate to think what will happen to prices when you start shutting down oil companies
