This retelling of recent history by Cecilia Muñoz is at best wrong and at worst dishonest, but what stood out is not what she says but rather what she doesn't say: no critical self-reflection, no mistakes, no self accountability. Just deflective, blame-shifting.... www.nytimes.com/2025/11/10/o...

Communities in NJ are making the demand clear: shut Delaney Hall down! We commend Mayor Baraka for joining the people of NJ to reject Trump’s anti-immigrant agenda.

It shouldn't matter if Trump’s victims have criminal records. If we only defend the “innocent,” the fascists will argue that their victim “was no angel.” An anti-fascist rhetoric that carves out exceptions for imperfect victims is a gift to our opponents.

One thing I wish people understood about authoritarianism is life often looks more or less the same. Troops aren’t marching down the street every day; people go to restaurants, have their office jobs. But everyone knows that stepping out of line, even slightly, can derail your life with no recourse

What is more morally urgent that stopping the slaughter of men women and children being bombed and starved to death in an open air prison with no where to escape? Funded totally by us tax payers ?
It doesn’t make the first 25 hour morality list? expect human beings to swallow this garbage ?

This is the Vice President of the United States saying "excellent" to collapsing an apartment building full of civilians and *maybe* one person who wasn't a civilian.
This jibes with contemporary reporting that the raids hit several residential buildings, in each case killing about 15 people and wounding more. Maybe a little more of the conversation should be about how cavalier we apparently are about bombing civilian homes? www.aljazeera.com/news/2025/3/...

I see some people conflating all Trump voters with the MAGA movement, and strategically, I think that's an error. I am not talking about a moral differentiation. I am talking about who can be provoked to act differently in the future: cult members vs ill-informed people making vibes-based decisions.

True story: a few years ago, I was being interviewed by a reporter for the New York Times. I mentioned the history of eviction statutes and how they tied into Jim Crow.

The reporter asked "what's Jim Crow?"

When I explained, the reporter didn't believe me and said the US wouldn't do that.

we all need to take action, however small or big. solidarity is the only path forward.

This is not the time to politically defend prioritized deportations. This is the time to oppose all deportations. Amazing to me that you still think “felons not families” is good framing….
