If you need a manuscript copy edited or proofread, I highly recommend the services of @emilyherring.bsky.social. I just received an edited manuscript back, and I'm very pleased with the level of detail and her excellent suggestions!

I wanted to comment on someone's comment to an original poster (OP). I wasn't certain of OP's #pronouns but looking up a profile when I'm mid-skeet is aggravating so I didn't. But (obviously?) I didn't want to misgender them*. So instead, I just changed the sentence structure to not include pronouns

Alice Wong taught us that disabled people don’t just leave memories behind—they leave infrastructure. Lineages of care. Methods of collectivity, survival. She named the connective tissue that holds our communities together, even across death, even across the losses that come too fast and too often.

You want to stay on my good side? Maybe don't ask me what I think God's plan was when giving my young niece a degenerative, fatal brain disorder which has robbed her of her ability to walk, stand, speak, or eat.

Reposting because, and I say this with love, some of you are going to see this and go “oh shit, I need to check my bottle” and then immediately forget about it so if this could affect you, go check right now before you even scroll to the next post, I mean it.
As a headsup for anyone on Vyvanse, you should go check your lot numbers.

That the AWS outage knock down effects shocked so many people tells me that science fiction should be part of the primary school curriculum. I don't know one self-professed nerd (as we were called back in the day) not say something like "I thought that might happen" when the news hit.
The absurd thing is not just that folks have locked themselves into a subscription for their *bed*, but that the fact that these multi-thousand-dollar beds are affected by outages means they might cook you even when it’s just your WiFi that goes down, not all of Amazon’s servers.
The AWS outage bricked people's $2,700 smartbeds, leaving them in a reclining position or with the heat up. People were unable to use them, basically. A GitHub repo exists that lets people operate their beds without reliance on the normal infrastructure

Apex Magazine is a digital science fiction, dark fantasy, and horror magazine that *pays their writers*. They don't expect any of their creative to work for free and this is how they do it (and subscriptions). If you have the means, here's the link.
Support the 2026 @apexmag.bsky.social Kickstarter! Apex publishes amazing SF, dark fantasy, and horror and we need their stories now more than ever.

I am "I miss Palm Pilots years old."
“Great thing about this app is AI to give you a reminder to do (something).”
Dude, you don’t need an AI to do that. Just put it in a digital calendar, set up a notification alarm, and you’re done. We’ve been able to do that, digitally, for decades. A PDA did that shit.

Now I have to start listening to country music.
🔥 COUNTRY SINGER @bryanandrewsmusic.bsky.social : "You don't get to call yourself a Christian and laugh when families are torn apart — and think it's okay that the highest court in the land just gave a green light to ICE agents to target people because they’re brown or speaking Spanish.”

"Let's just say it's 20% of people on Medicaid...as a thought experiment" is where this interview should have stopped dead. No. If you are making policy because you think people aren't working enough, you should be making up numbers in your head to back that up.
DR OZ: If you're sitting at home as an able-bodied person on Medicaid & on average you'll watch 6.1 hours of TV or leisure time at home, you actually don't want that. Opiate use skyrockets

CNBC: There are a lot of people who are on Medicaid who are there actually as caregivers, so they are working

I'm watching Six Feet Under and I think the most subversive and unexpected aspect is how much sexy fun time the woman in her early to mid 50s (the mom) is getting.

No discussion about #menopause so far but we'll see what happens next.

Remember this. The Nazis were defeated by geologists and car mechanics and school teachers and milkmen. Ordinary people from all over the world who risked their own lives to put the fascists in the ground where they belong.
the real glory of world war two was that it involved a warrior cult being ground down and beaten to a pulp by people who would rather have been doing something else.
Hegseth: "Maximum lethality -- not tepid legality. Violent effect, not politically correct. We're gonna raise up warriors. Not just defenders."
