Solar farms are wildlife habitats.
Liz Truss called solar farms a “blight on the landscape”, but researchers have found they are actually better for birds than farmland

Solar farms in East Anglia had greater bird diversity & bird abundance than nearby arable land, a study finds

It takes a LOT more energy, effort, money and political will to fix the city-building mistakes of the past than it takes to do the right things in the first place, even if they SEEM hard to do at the moment.

Stop making the mistakes that we KNOW are mistakes.

I've been advocating for more and wider and more hardened & wider #bikenyc lanes for a l-o-n-g time.

I just found this short I put together while we were all stuck in our homes during the first weeks of the pandemic 5 years ago! #urbanism

Seeing is inspiration.

In the Netherlands, I watched couples ride together on a single bike, not as a novelty, but as a way of life. It wasn’t just transport, it was connection. A reminder that growing older doesn’t mean losing the joy of going places together.

There have been lots of bad headlines about this tragedy, but the Times gets it right. A driver crashed a car into a crowd of people, just as one would say a gunman fired into a crowd of people.

The authorities believe the crash, into a union’s strike-day demonstration, was a deliberate attack. The suspect is a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker who was known to the police.

Pet peeve: Drivers who don't signal their turns. It's super dangerous for cyclists (I always expect them to turn without warning).

Also, the fine for stopping inside the bike box at a red light is three penalty points and £100. They should enforce this.

By me: Cycle paths are pointless if women don't feel safe using them at night. If you want to give people the choice to cycle, there need to be good options for everyone

(note: I had the headline amended as research shows almost a quarter of routes are deemed socially unsafe after dark, not half)
Half of London's cycleways are unsafe after dark – and this curtails women's freedom
