Truth. A ceasefire is a compassionate humanitarian act and a return to compassion is how every conflict eventually ends.
I can’t help but think today about how many young people were savaged on social media, branded as anti-semites and abandoned by their schools for daring to call for a ceasefire. I remember saying that it was the first time I can remember that calling for ceasefire was regarded as a hostile demand.

Take note. The USA is a constitutional republic with checks and balances, not a monarchy.
Saying the President is Commander in Chief of the military doesn't mean he is unbound by legislation or by courts. That's precisely how checks and balances works - every authority granted by the Constitution is potentially countered by another authority, so no branch can act completely alone.
