We saw it with big tobacco, we saw it with the fossil fuels industry. When their own internal research showed the harm from their product, the defunded the research and attacked independent researchers coming to the very same conclusions.

I really can't stress how important it is for progressive and leftists to contend for school, library, water, etc etc boards. Hyper local involvement in our communities where we can actually influence lives.

Point is, one can’t be just participate as a voter every four years. We must vigorously get involved like it is a Black Friday sale, run, scream and grab for the common good.

Next election, pick a candidate and volunteer in some way for them. Be persistent in contacting them. Find what you like to do. I’ve been knocking doors, writing postcards since 2016. It builds community when it is done year after year.
I think Americans are realizing that democracy is a participation sport, and the the government is ours if we want it to be. I feel like we got complacent and hoped some other third party would do the work for us. Seems like we have to learn that lesson every generation.

I see no path forward between what people are saying they want and the Democratic party as currently constituted. No path.

The Brits have stopped sharing drug trafficking intel w/us in the Caribbean, Latin American region. They believe our extra judicial killings are illegal. If you’ve worked on this stuff or w/ the Brits, you know this is really a big deal. DOD folks—your professional liability insurance won’t work.

Looks like the Dems will pick up 12 seats in the VA House of Delegates, which will go from 51-49 to 63-37 D-R. That's an honestly shocking result.

Canvassed 35 doors today in Cave Spring, VA. Best door: one resident moved out and the lady moving in had recently moved there and votes Democratic! Helped her with her new voting location. Probably my last canvass for the election.

It was great being back in Norfolk to help get out the vote for @abigailspanberger.com for Governor.

Virginia Democrats are rightfully celebrating that they’re challenging every inch of grass in the Commonwealth.

It’s a revelation, & something Dr. Fergie Reid Sr. has fought for since the 1950s — when it wasn’t as popular as it is today.

Hey Virginia! Today is last day of early voting! Out in Roanoke mountains canvassing 18 doors. Not very walkable but trying to squeeze out some votes! Beautiful scenery!

BREAKING: Democrats just tried to pass a standalone bill to fund WIC & SNAP to make sure families don't go hungry during the Republican shutdown.

Republicans BLOCKED it. So Trump won't use emergency funds to keep SNAP running, and Republicans won't let any bills pass. Shameful.

Holidays will be different this year. Take time to meditate, exercise, and spend time with family and friends. Remember to find joy, no matter how small, and hold it close. Do not let them take your humanity. When you feel alone and lost, find a friend. You are never alone.

Found a great mutual aid to help essential federal workers at Roanoke Airport. They have a pantry where they will take public donations near baggage claim 2. I shopped at a nearby Aldi and got a bagful of food that I could carry into the terminal.

10/22/25 Update (estimates):

Returned - 232,620

Some of these mail ballots may end up being cast in-person. But many won't, and they'll be overwhelmingly Dem votes that decide very close races. We need every last one.

I’m a canvasser and knocked doors last Saturday in Virginia, literally encountered another reason for early voting. I knocked on a door of an elderly woman who had early voted. Her husband said his wife fell yesterday broke her hip, and was undergoing surgery. I did a video on it.
