Reading this while on a 60 minute ground hold at SFO.
Whoa! The shutdown’s ripple effect starting to hit.

Burbank Airport in LA County has no air traffic controllers on duty due to sick calls, last-minute day-off requests, and staffing shortages.

If you’re flying anywhere in the country, check for delays.

If the airport restaurant waitress asks for your ID, that's a sign the moustache isn't working for you.

Compared to Alternative 5, Mayor Harrell’s proposed plan:

Removes vast swaths of exclusive areas in Wedgewood, Magnolia, Greenwood Ave, Queen Anne, Laurelhurst, Ravenna, Montlake, north Capitol Hill, Madrona, Mt. Baker, Genesee Park, & Seward Park from places where we can add more housing

bruce's lack of action on the housing crisis is palpable

he has not opened the shelter beds he campaigned on 4 years ago

comp plan update is years late, inadequate, and incredibly anti-renter

literal face of opposition for social housing

permitting dropped off a cliff with no plan to fix

fucking wild that the fundamental moral test of our time is something as simple as "can you denounce fascism" and so many people are failing it

Look if Republicans say that liberals made them do something, we have no choice but to believe them, because, since when do Republicans ever lie about anything?

@kingcountymetro.bsky.social the repeated message at the stadium was that you appreciate it when we take the train to the match. This doesn't feel like you mean it.

Trying to go to sleep last night, I realized that the quiet had somehow become anticipatory silence. And so I whispered into the darkness "parkour..." And as if released by a starting gun there were the sounds of a series of leaps and collisions followed by little claws trying to corner on hardwood.

I'm used to finding my people at a protest. Union siblings, activist retirees, friends, former coworkers, and somehow always one of my bosses from 30 years ago will be there. The mass of strangers at #Handsoff Seattle today was far too large for that. I'm proud of my city today.

If the government’s position is that being trafficked to El Salvador by Donald Trump and Stephen Miller amounts to a final and irreversible deprivation of all rights, then it seems to me every federal court has a duty to permanently enjoin the practice as soon as it possibly can.

I worked on a project where the WA DNR maps showed the dominant tree species was Bitter Cherry.

We talked to a series of progressively older programmers to find one who knew this was a coding artifact indicating "non-commercial forest".

You have to understand how "the data" was collected and used.
"Data doesn't lie"?

It's amazing how much the same people who mocked pre-eminent scientists during COVID are now blindly following a ketamine-fueled hustler and the teenage DOGE dorks.
Johnson: "Elon's cracked the code. He's now inside these agencies. He's created these algorithms that are constantly crawling through the data & as he told me in his office, data doesn't lie. We're gonna be able to get the information. We're gonna be able to transform the way federal govt works."
