If you don’t like being called a racist, maybe don’t make a career of saying things that appeal to racists, don’t create a political party that keeps attracting racist candidates, don’t fawn over racist world leaders, and don’t make a convicted racist the guest of honour at your party conference.

Do Sports Utility Vehicles (SUVs) Cause More Severe Injuries to Pedestrians and Cyclists than Passenger Cars, in the Case of a Crash? Findings from Great Britain, 2004-2023
In Great Britain, road crashes involving SUVs cause more severe injuries to pedestrians and cyclists than crashes involving passenger cars. The effect is stronger in children, especially young children.

Dear residents and visitors,

We have received complaints about adults driving motor vehicles on local streets. This can cause damage to people and property.

If anyone you know is driving on local streets, please speak with them and ask them not to.

Shocking to see multi-billion pound delivery platforms taking no responsibility for how their riders operate.

Riders are incentivised to break rules to make ends meet. It puts themselves and others in danger.

Well done to @lauralaker.bsky.social for holding them to account on BBC Breakfast 🧵

Bit baffled by this fake news in the commons today that floating bus stops are a completely new thing (various MPs saying they first appeared in 2013).

Here's one on the Marston Road Cycle track, which dates from the 1930s. Many bus stops there from pre-2013.

Look outside London lads!

Hi @drrosena.bsky.social
Please read this as banning floating bus stops will likely result in devastating cycling provision and more cyclist deaths.
Here's an expert's, data led evidence.
Very pleased to report the record has been corrected to "an independent highway design consultant".

See, it's just easier to humour me.

Thankyou for your considered response to this Bill. Bus Stop Bypasses are a necessity for segregated cycle lanes on busy roads. Many exist on cycle routes in London & TfL studies suggest they are safe. Opponents never offer viable alternatives, so I guess they don't care about cyclist protection.
As promised, my written evidence is now on the @cityinfinity.bsky.social website blog. It has also been acknowledged by Parliamentary support.

I hope you understand why I have unusually disabled replies.

This may be one for @philmoorhouse.bsky.social to cover at some point with respect to how parliament can be totally dysfunctional.
If these amendments are accepted it will utterly devastate cycling provision, lead to more traffic, thus slowing down buses, & pollution & road deaths/injuries.
I have just spent a few hours writing up some evidence for the Bus Services (No. 2) Bill which is in the Commons committee stage.

It should be boring but important stuff about running bus services with a model that suits each area.

This bill will kill cycle infrastructure. This bill will kill cyclists.
Let me be perfectly clear. If this were to be adopted, then that's it for building cycle tracks in the UK in most situations.

Her amendment would force more people into cars which would perversely make it worse for bus reliability and of course be exclusionary itself.

Hi @marshadecordova.bsky.social
If your amendments get through it will kill people cycling.
Would love to see your response to @emilykerr36.bsky.social post.
Hi @marshadecordova.bsky.social you're suggesting worrying amendments which really won't work in our rural Oxfordshire setting and might require children to take bikes into 60mph HGV traffic. Have you read TfL's guide to Bus Stop Bypasses? Linked below!

Right I'm so pissed off that we've got London MPs trying to hijack the Local Buses Bill (which is supposed to be about STUFF OUTSIDE LONDON for a change) to try to ban London / all floating bus stops (utter nonsense), that I've stayed up late writing evidence for the committee. Join me! Link ⬇️
Here's another one near Yarnton. Is the mother I met today who cycles here with her baby supposed to divert into the A44? How?

Come and see what bus stops exist outside London before making amendments which could honestly kill children in my division.
