That Dalglish - Rush - Rush - Dalglish connection absolutely went through my head as well.

A club well known for an absolute dearth of chants having goal celebration music is a rather beautiful touch.

If anyone, anywhere, can explain how André is still on the pitch, that would be appreciated. #lfc

A fabulously scathing review of Amsterdam's Rosewood Hotel in De Volkskrant, which has taken the city's rebellious nature and sanitised and made a commodity of it all. They have even registered Provo - the 1960s anti-capitalist, anarchist group - as a trade mark.

Bob's 2025 salary would be £40,316/$54,410 (relative earnings) for a 40 hour week. Bob's week however was c.60 hours, and Scrooge would almost certainly ask him to opt out of the Working Time Regs, so his hourly wage would be £13/$17.4, just above today's UK minimum wage.

Your yearly reminder while watching Muppets Christmas Carol that Bob Cratchit made 15 shillings a week, which, when adjusted for inflation, means he made $14.20 an hour. Still poor, but almost double the minimum wage in many states in the United States.

Salah probably scores the winner in the 91st minute in a game where Egypt have really struggled to beat Zimbabwe.

I'm going to have a bath and put an egg in it while listening to Chris Rea *

Contrary to a few opinions I've seen, I don't think Van de Ven's challenge is as bad as Simons's on Van Dijk. It feels to me like the (awful, obviously) outcome is being used to determine the severity of the tackle, rather than the severity of the tackle being judged independently of the outcome.

The goal of the AFCON has probably just been scored in the opening match - El Kaabi for Morocco.

A "moral victory" secured by restricting AJ's weight, having a larger ring, and only 8 rounds, so Paul could run away (54 punches v AJ's 154). As the ref said to Paul at the end of the 4th, with him repeatedly going low/ grabbing AJ's leg, "Fans didn't pay to see this crap".

Andrew Tate is legitimately awful at boxing and he got beat up by some model or whatever which is incredibly embarrassing. Jake Paul however lasted 6 rounds with one of the best boxers of the last 15 years so will 100% take it as a moral victory. Haters can’t have it all I’m afraid
Andrew Tate and Jake Paul losing the same weekend. Sad.

Jake O'Brien with a more daft handball than Van Dijk to give away a penalty, which I wasn't expecting. #lfc

Pretty sure today's performance will put Spurs "top" of the fair play table. You can criticise Jon Brooks if you like, but Spurs's disciplinary issues were well understood before today and neither of the yellows leading to a red/single red cards were in an way especially controversial.

That was a bad win. #lfc

Obviously I'm pleased it wasn't disallowed, but I'm nonetheless a bit surprised Hugo's goal was allowed to stand. #lfc

You know it's not been a high quality game of football so far when they're comparing goalkeeper stats as graphics on the international feed. #lfc

Genuinely silly opinion, for me.

For me that's a slow-motion red but never a real-time red. But the laws were not written to withstand modern technological scrunity. The tech has in effect re-written the laws.

For everyone at the back, including pundits on the telly box:

Intent (or the alternatuve word deliberate) does not matter. It is irrelevant. It is not in the Laws of the Game regarding serious foul play.
bsky.app/profile/jair...
Oof can see why it's a red obviously, but don't see intent there, the way his foot snaps back shows he wasn't expecting the contact he made. You can also argue that no idea what he was tryna do since it wasn't a block or to cut off a pass. Anyway :/

Remarkable money being for an event where a boxer of zero pedigree and barely any tools at his disposal whatsoever had his jaw broken by a boxer of pedigree with an array of tools at his disposal.

Next, I attempt to beat Lewis Hamilton around a track, me on my 2008 city bike, he in a Ferrari.

Right now Pluribus's Zosia is in the running for one of the top ten most terrifying characters brought to television, albeit her arc I suspect will be critical to the show's development and conclusion. Karolina Wydra meanwhile is surely in line for an Emmy nomination.

For anyone who has worked in architecture and/or engineering and/or construction, this is about the least surprising development imaginable.

And it's really worth pointing out at every moment these sorts of things arise - FIFA/World Cup 2026 will be making billions from this tournament off the back of an overwhelmingly unpaid workforce, its "volunteers".
bsky.app/profile/jdna...
FIFA World Cup fan fests have always been free, but not for 2026. Yet another way this World Cup is set up to exploit football fans.
