If - and it's an if - #lfc's complaint results in PGMOL acknowledging that they didn't adhere to their (presumably obligatory) VAR processes, processes that were largely put in place owing to VAR failings coincidentally against the same club, it only further legitimises the idea of VAR's abolition.

Here is Bernardo Silva's position for a goal which was awarded last season, for the same offence for which Andy Robertson was penalised. The referee was the same as today.

The simple question for the officials is whether Robertson - who is an offside position - interferes with the goalkeeper by preventing him from playing or being able to play the ball by clearly obstructing his line of vision. #lfc

Two things about #lfc's goal.
(1) The quickly taken throw-in was a result of Wirtz harrying Huijsen, as he did repeatedly.
(2) There's no need for Bellingham to make the challenge, but he remains indisciplined, especially when he's ineffective and being played out of the game.

There's nothing in the Saudi Arabian press or released by Neom in the past week to indicate that this has been "announced".
My suspicion is that someone has had a giggle with (not especially well done) renders based on some other completely unofficial images such as this.

If it's a foul it's definitely a penalty, by the way. No issues from a VAR perspective as to where the contact itself was judged to be. #lfc

Yes, #lfc should have had an indirect free-kick in the Man Utd box. Lammens throws the ball against his own back leg, loses control of the ball, collects it again, and then throws it again.

Sam Fender winning the Mercury Prize is absolutely fine actually.

Ruminating on @davidallengreen.bsky.social's post, Norway and Denmark also peacefully resolved Greenland's status at the Permanent Court of International Justice (the ICJ's predecessor) in 1933 in Denmark v. Norway, rather than, say, the latter attempting to permanently occupy Eastern Greenland.

Enjoyably, the first trade mark to feature the word "soccer" followed not long after, in 1927 (searches have been limited to the UK only).
Guess who registered it? That (then) most British of companies, Cadbury. Which I suspect will make @davidallengreen.bsky.social smile.

It was also, as far as I can see, the second trade mark ever registered in the UK to contain the word "football" (March 1926). The first was just three months earlier, in December 1925.

A lot of people know Timpson / The Timpson Group for their fair work practices, employment/reintegration of ex-convicts, and family ownership. It was a delight this morning to discover they also used to manufacture football boots.

FIFA has applied to register the trade mark "Afghan Women United" in the class typical for sports and entertainment. This is presumably the official name and logo for the Afghan women's refugee team, which will play in a four team tournament alongside Libya, Chad, and the UAE at the end of October.

Biggest issue for #lfc - season to date - is the positional players aren't doing the job they should do. But this should have been a win.

Jimmy Carr in an interview this year, before he signed an agreement with Saudi Arabia that some things actually can't be joked about.

I like Kerkez a lot, but he has to learn at times to use his right foot - why would you turn on to your left foot here and concede a throw in this position rather than simply clearing? #lfc

I'm absolutely sure that brave Jimmy Carr will follow his own principles and let his crowd be the muse, and absolutely hasn't agreed in advance that certain subjects are off topic.
