Interestingly, if on January 6 the Capitol police had implemented the policy endorsed by this Florida sheriff, there would have been far fewer J6 defendants left alive for Trump to pardon.

If you think gun laws don’t matter, the heinous guy in Colorado who burned 12 Jewish Americans in an act of pure hate, was trying to buy a gun, but was unable to. As bad as it was, imagine the conversation we’d be having today.

its crazy how dominant germany was in science (especially chemistry) in the 19th century, it was basically the international language for scientists, people came from all over the world to train at heidelberg etc, and then....
There are 2 previous historical cases of countries destroying their science and universities, crippling them for decades: Lysenkoism in the USSR and Nazi Germany. The Trump administration will be the 3rd.
It's not just budgets but research, institutions, expertise, and training the next generation.

Add Verizon to the blackout list.

Corporations only care about profit. They have no ethics. So know how to leverage them to care about what we care about: deny them your $$. Pressure companies who do business with them to stop or you'll deny them your $$, too. Hit 'em in the pocketbook.

To witness what Israel is doing to Gaza, after what Germany did to the Jews, is to understand just how thin that veneer of human civilization and decency can be, and what nightmares we set loose when we decide to strip it away.

The Afrikaners were ostentatiously welcomed to the US by the Trump regime as a way to reinforce their message that white people everywhere are the victims of persecution and that their only protection is Trump.
Yes, it's a silly message with no basis in fact. But politically, it works.

I think the way to turn this administration’s tanking polls around is to have this creep talk about his plans for our children as much as possible.

Trump declared an emergency on the border, allowing him to use the military there. He declared an economic emergency, allowing him to unilaterally impose huge tariffs. He declared an invasion by Venezuela, so he can snatch and deport. And he is eying an emergency so he can impose martial law.

If Congress grants the president extreme powers that by law can be used only in emergencies, but the judiciary is forbidden to review whether an emergency actually exists, then what Congress has done is grant the president extreme powers anytime he wants to use them.

According to a study, “21 of the 87 privately held US companies valued at $1 billion or more had a founder who first came to the US as an int'l student.”
Yet the Trump regime is trying to run those students off, making sure they don't feel welcome or safe here.

On 9/12/2001 the hottest commodity in the U.S. was the American flag. Trump has made the red MAGA hat trademark of his movement....what if we reclaim the flag as our symbol? All of us who despise what he's doing fly flags respectfully everywhere, defying his followers to ridicule our movement.

That is correct.

Trump and Putin secretly cooked up a "peace deal" between them that in Ukrainian eyes amounted to a surrender that spelled their doom. Trump tried to impose the deal on Zelensky, so he could play hero.
When Zelensky refused to drink from that poisoned chalice, it enraged Trump/Vance.
