I have been researching just how hard the "new drug war" laws are/became, and here is yet another example. Totally abandonment of healthcare, housing, etc and just criminal punishment all the way down. "involuntary treatment" is just prison.
Law enforcement who respond to an overdose and would be directed to take the survivor into custody and transport them directly to a screening for treatment. But the bill also goes further.

Today for Trans Day of Remembrance, don't forget that last month, Gov. Newsom vetoed a bill that would have prevented discrimination against trans people in insurance and allowed people who need hormones to stockpile a year's worth of supply.

He also vetoed a PreP bill that had bipartisan support.

The idea that sexual abuse is part of “private” life instead of a public crisis has done incalculable damage. Anti-rape activists have to fight to even make it possible to expose sexual abuse as a wrongdoing in public without being silenced and undermined. That fight is far from won

"Vermont State Police touted the national 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline for those in distress or their loved ones." This is the same lifeline the Trump admin cut for LGBTQ people in crisis.

Only 1 person in the whole study went from identifying as trans to not identifying as trans. The 1/5 number came from youth going between the binary and non-binary spectrum.

This headline and post are misleading on purpose to fit the economist's editorial bent on the political issue.
