The university of Michigan released its consumer confidence index.

US consumer confidence is at the lowest level since 1951.

Trump tanked the economy in his first term!

Is he’s doing it to us again?

House Republicans remain on a taxpayer-funded vacation for the sixth consecutive week.

You deserve better.

If a President can silence late-night comedians, punish private workers for dissent, blackmail colleges, bend law firms, and ignore the Constitution, we are no longer a #democracy. Congress must act as a coequal branch to stop the despotic machinations of a pseudo-tyrant. #Freespeech depends on it.

Remember kids, environmental racism is more than just not planting trees in the hood!
20 years after Hurricane Katrina, the US is trying to build a $5 billion canal project through New Orleans’ Ninth Ward.

It would leave the city’s weakest flood defenses exposed for more than a decade and allow the Mississippi River to flow about a quarter of a mile deeper into the neighborhood.
The threat that could destroy 20 years of progress in the Lower Ninth
Past storms nearly erased New Orleans' Lower Ninth Ward. A new federal project may finish the job.

Gerrymandering has gone on for a long time. Yes, sometimes Democrats do it too. But what's happening in Texas, in the United States of 2025, shouldn't be dismissed as partisanship, "both sides do it," etc. An authoritarian president personally ordered a gerrymander. newrepublic.com/article/1988...
Texas Republicans: It’s About Power, Yes—but Also Their Radical Agenda
Of course this gerrymandering plan is about keeping power. But it’s about keeping power to a specific end: to pass laws people hate and block ones they want.

From the firing at the Bureau of Labor Statistics to public pressure on the Fed, Trump wants to bend economic numbers and institutions to his whim. Nobel Prize-winning economist @josephestiglitz.bsky.social calls these actions "unconscionable," warning “confidence in the US economy will erode.”
Nobel-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz: Trump firing BLS head ‘like driving a car with no odometer'
After a weak jobs report on Friday, Trump responded by firing the head of the Bureau of Labor Statistics. But as Nobel Prize-winning economist Joseph Stiglitz tells Ali Velshi, ignoring bad numbers doesn’t make the problem go away. Instead, it’s more “like driving a car with no odometer,” Stiglitz says. He shares an anecdote from his time on the Council of Economic Advisers, advising President Bill Clinton. Stiglitz explains that Clinton once attempted to influence his analysis, to which Stiglitz says he replied “the preservation of the independence of the statistical agencies is of first order importance, and you, Mr. President, cannot change this.” Clinton accepted this, but Trump, Stiglitz says, does not. Because of Trump’s political pressure on independent economic agencies like the BLS and the Federal Reserve, Stiglitz warns, “confidence in the US dollar and confidence in the US economy will erode.”

The death toll will continue to rise all over country. We moved on from the deaths due to air traffic control layoffs or firings thanks to DOGE. As someone who lost 14 family members due to Trump 1 waiting too long to warn the public about Covid, I’ll never forget the dead due to failed governance.

@murray.senate.gov said it best: Hands off SNAP.

House Republicans’ proposed cuts to SNAP will rip the rug out from under families who count on food assistance for healthy meals.
We should NOT cut food assistance in America so that Trump can pad the pockets of billionaires and giant corporations.

If Republicans won’t listen to common sense and common decency—then we are going to get a megaphone and shout it from the rooftops:

HANDS OFF SNAP.
