These proposals are impractical and unenforceable. They would constitute an abdication of a faculty member's responsibility to teach up to the professional standards of the discipline in which they are expert, and a violation of the First Amendment rights of both faculty members and students.

These stories are horrific. These men were tortured in CECOT and one day both presidents will be held accountable.

There's a deep irony to do the way we do welfare.
Opponents hate that aid programs disincentivize paid work. So, they've fought to make keep aid programs meager and strictly means-tested. When the way to avoid disincentivizing paid work is to make aid more generous at the margins, not less.

Yep, it’s why some people forgo raises at work. They know it will push them off the benefit cliff. What good is an extra $1/hour (~$175 per month pre-tax) if you lose $250 in SNAP benefits? It seems foolish but it’s not. It is a perfectly rational decision by a parent taking care of their family.

Crazy how much some media has normalized the idea that voters are taking a risk if they elect governors/mayors who will defy Trump. That he’ll threaten their funding, etc.
Try to imagine, say. Greg Abbott being asked if he’s worried that Biden will punish Texas over his lawsuits.
