The need to launch the process to replace the old MR-73 Montreal Metro trains (now 50 years old) is urgent. Learn more in this Radio-Canada story (in French). It is estimated it would take 16 years from the start to the final delivery, so time is of the essence. ici.radio-canada.ca/info/videos/...

IMPORTANT: If you live in the United States or Canada, you’ve probably heard Trump‘s constant claim that the United States is “subsidizing” Canada. It’s wrong of course, but here’s the best explanation I’ve seen about how & why it’s wrong. PLEASE WATCH & SHARE IT A LOT. Kudos to Andrew Chang & CBC.

Clearing sidewalks like roads is not radical. It’s just what any serious winter city does. If you don’t get enough snow to justify clearing sidewalks then you should probably get rid of your road clearing equipment too.

It’s simple: in congested urban areas, the supply of free roads can’t keep up with demand to drive. Pricing allows faster movement for people who need to drive (e.g., deliveries), while investing money into better transit for people who don’t.

Pricing isn’t punishment, it’s making the roads work.
New York's new congestion charge has dramatically reduced traffic congestion.
We should copy their success, as recommended by @grattaninstitute.bsky.social.
