We hope this will attract passengers back to the Exo Mascouche line.
Sharing the tunnel should have been technically feasible, according to a report by Systra. Not doing so was a choice made by CDPQinfra, to the detriment of Exo and VIA Rail/Alto.

The people who owe Canadians answers include Siemens Mobility. Train breakdowns can’t be entirely eliminated, but the failed train also couldn’t be towed by the rescue train, making the situation much more difficult.

We are aware of the train failure incident last night and look forward to receiving full details from VIA regarding the cause of the problem. Canada needs to adequately fund its passenger railway so standby locomotives are available to rescue failed trains.

got the chance to speak to CBC about the finch west LRT and talk about how after all these years and $3.7B, riders might not see service that is meaningfully more fast and frequent than the finch bus replaced.
