The idea that you should be allowed to drive a god damn *car* weighting more than one ton in a *city* at more than 30km/h is absolutely insane.
“Helsinki hasn’t registered a single traffic-related fatality in the past year…Citing data that shows the risk of pedestrian fatality is cut in half by reducing a car’s speed from 40 to 30km/hr, city officials imposed the lower limit in most of Helsinki’s residential areas & city center in 2021.”
Helsinki just went a full year without a single traffic death
The capital city is Finnish’ed with car-related fatalities.

… & ask ppl what they think of your idea/article etc. If more journos did that they’d know that LGBTQ ppl don’t separate out the T, that LGBTQ ppl see trans & NB ppl as core parts of the community, that we all see transphobia as just homophobia rebottled. Transphobia is ignorant bigotry & hate.

To be clear: every time I enter a road race it is absolutely my intention to win but I need people to understand that if I do win it’s because I train hard and push myself to my limits and I’m no less deserving of that opportunity than any other woman
I think the thing about saying that trans women have a biological advantage in sports that is the most personally upsetting to me is that it very obviously has me at a pretty large *disadvantage* in cycling because my power to weight ratio is absolutely tragic.

If people are using the correct statistics, casual inference and study design, they will quickly realize they don't have the funds to design the study, the time to learn the statistics, or the right data to answer the actual question they are interested in. Then they will never publish or get tenure

The advances we've made in statistics, experimental study design, and causal inference over the past century are remarkably useful for understanding our world. But there is never been a push to make people use them like we are seeing with generative AI. Perhaps take a moment to consider why.
