Elon Musk appears to be wearing a SafeLife-style level 3+ concealable kevlar vest under his shirt. That's why his looks this way. He is terrified and in fear for his life.

incredible opportunities right now for an honorably discharged private first class with the last name Hitler
The desperate search to find decorated US soldiers that happen to share the same last name as Confederate generals is one of the funniest spectacles of this whole Administration.

The final vote: 51-45, with 4 people absent.

CLOTURE FAILS, A CONGRESSIONAL SPORTS BAN WILL NOT HAPPEN.

Democrats hold firm, not a single dem voted for cloture.

MAJOR victory for everyone who called in today and this week in support of trans people.

Social Security has a payment accuracy rate of over 99 percent. Only 0.3 percent of Social Security benefits are improper payments, which are typically caused by mistakes or delays.

That's better than any private insurance company.

this is bad bc of this dude's position, but it is not a new policy for the archive to remove old social media posts when individuals make requests like this.
The Internet Archive has removed its archives of individual tweets from the account belonging to DOGE staffer Marko Elez.

The WSJ reported yesterday that this account belonged to Ekes, and that many of these tweets were racist and led to his resignation.

NEW: Less than a month before fires swept across Los Angeles, a group of longtime firefighters gathered at City Hall to plead for more resources. They were at a “breaking point,” one said. Million-dollar fire trucks sat idle because budget cuts had left too few mechanics available to fix them.

none of this shit matters in the slightest. they are not holding Trump or his minions accountable. Hegseth is getting through. You fuckers and your newspaper are half the useless slime that brought us here and I hope you feel the shame in your bones
FYI, folks from Bluesky. Reporters at The NYT, among other news organizations, are now generating a giant wave of accountability stories about the new Trump era. Reading these stories, sharing them, is a form of accountability as well. It is a form of participatory democracy too. Substance matters.

Deeply worried about my immigrant friends if this new law passes.

The fact that Democrats will have put their stamp on it will be the ultimate evidence that they have literally signed onto Republican fascism.

Why are people who aren't from Los Angeles reflexively defending LA's Mayor from justified criticism by Democratic voters?

Why are yall spreading disinformation?

We gotta hold our elected officials accountable. This team-sports defense everything any Democrat does is LITERALLY KILLING US.

The trap for the woman who says she was raped by Hegseth: GOP Senators (namely Susan Collins and Joni Ernst) won't meet with her privately, and Hegseth's lawyer promises to sue her for defamation (combined with a right-wing media sphere that would surely ruin her entire life) if she speaks publicly

I think this accounts succinctly for the conspicuous rage-in-victory of so many Trumpistas. What they want, though they’ll never admit it, is the respect of civilized people, which they fuzzily imagined they could extract by main force.
