Frankly, no. Thats’s not the scandal. It’s merely the hypocrisy inherent to the conservative ideology.
The scandal should be a senator’s implication that, were a USian dictator only targeting “dangerous” people as he claimed, the systemic torture and abuse wouldn’t be a scandal.
