Two great underrated WA state bands on the same bill at an Olympia Pizzaria, Dec. 2008.

Talbot Tagora were a weirdo Seattle trio that should have been talked in the same breath as Thinking Fellers, rRope or Erase Errata.

And Sex Vid were a warped Seattle/Olympia/Austin hardcore band.

Patrick Healey, the guy behind the NYT's "but her emails" coverage and the Opinion section's inane, right-leaning citizen panels is now a "masthead editor" in charge of "standards and trust" for the NYT newsroom. This is not good. This does not build trust. www.nytco.com/press/patric...

it’s absurd that NYT forced him to delete these skeets, which … convey the factual information that Zohran Mamdani is, in fact, a man of South Asian descent who was born and raised in Africa, and that the pseudonymous source of the hacked material is a white supremacist eugenicist.

Just went looking for something at the excellent Hagley Digital Archives, and was greeted by the message below.

They're being overrun by bots, as "AI systems increasingly target sites like ours to train machine learning models."

The web is being murdered. So aggravating.

The mid-century publications didn’t need to announce themselves as gay, even if they had been able to. Their readers understood the necessity of balancing discretion and seduction.

Going through the 81/82 issues of Your Computer is a real reminder that selling stuff that just did not actually exist was standard operating practise in tech from the beginning
A new Manchester company started 1983 by advertising mail order sale of a game which never existed. Yet by the end of the year, they had achieved their first UK games chart #1 of many.

This is the story of the beginnings of Ocean Software:

In April 1983, UK magazines Home Computing Weekly and Personal Computer News each carried an advert for “the world’s greatest arcade games”. It was from the company Spectrum Games, and promised “Au…

We aired “My Neighbor Totoro” that night.

Charles Barkley shoved a giant industrial-sized can of chili onto my chest as I was hiding from the camera, working Long Haul.
I expect a lot of wild stuff from CN Fridays but Charles Barkley in a My Neighbor Totoro apron checking in on a sick Long Haul the Puppet Trucker was a surprise even for me

If even half of what’s been reported about the 9-hour documentary is true, there’s no way the estate was ever gonna let it surface.

Get ready for the driest 90-minute puff piece you’ve ever seen.
The official Prince estate account on FB posted this an hour back. This sadly clearly means that Ezra Edelman's nine-hour documentary, which would have provided a truly all around portrait of him rather than a gloss, will never surface. And that's a damn shame.
