A miserable wet day, It is days like this that make a place look bad, as everything is wet and there is not a lot of light.

We are now further away from the theatrical release of Raiders of the Lost Ark (June 12, 1981) than it was from the year it takes place in (1936). We have reached the Indiana Jones event horizon.

Woke up and got moving early this morning. To the point I clocked in in the office earlier than I would have clocked in working from home…

Looks like the Hoxton hotel, formerly the central hotel, is opening its bars this Thursday…. Must pop in and have a small drink in the Library Bar, it’s been a while and I have missed the place.

Weather is miserable, and despite best efforts I spent a lot of time walking outside today. Now home and heating is turned on for the first time this winter.

One of the stranger aspects of all this anger is the constant belief that people only have a different opinion to you because they are paid to; it is unthinkable that somebody might just disagree with you on their own dime.
The BBC paid me to say that, by the way.

Saw a news report yesterday about children as young as 9 being given weight loss jabs on the NHS, and I think it shows just how utterly bullshit the “lack of research into long term impacts” excuse for banning puberty blockers for trans kids really was. It’s purely ideological.

This is the consequence of pandering to the far right - they feel untouchable. People could have died. They could literally have murdered people.
Justice Minister confirms arson attack on IPAS building in Drogheda last night.

"Fireworks were thrown into the building, causing a fire and putting lives at risk. This was a terrifying ordeal for the women and children living there, a number of whom were taken to hospital."

At this point "new record of homelessness" is so routine that it disgusts me. Our government have so so much to answer for and this is a scandal that should follow everyone who has overseen it to their sleepless beds at night, on every holiday they take, every moment of carefree celebration.
The number of people in emergency accommodation increased last month to 16,614.

According to the latest figures from the Department of Housing, 11,376 adults and 5,238 children were in emergency accommodation in September.

I've literally sat down with Bjo Trimble, the woman who helped save Star Trek.

Fuck off with your 'only men are Star Trek fans' nonsense.

Also Bjo is a legend, and John was awesome too :)

Remember voting for Jim Gavin doesn't spoil your vote, but if he gets 12.5% or more then Fianna Fáil gets €250,000 of your taxes given to them as election expenses.

Don't protest vote by giving the government party your money. #speirgorm

Have the day off, I still got around to voting pretty early (though not at 7am).

Turn out is very very slow, all things considered that is not surprising.

Could not find the filters for my Mask when I went to Octocon so had to wear a single use mask, but that was fine for one day.

I then forgot to order new filters until Tuesday, and thought I would not get them in time for Gaelcon.

Luckily they arrived this morning and so I have comfy mask to wear.

So I like High Potential, and this is not necessarily a critique of the show's narrative value, but a thing happens in S02E06 that reminded me that the show is still copaganda, and in particular that the genre overall values *defying the rights of the accused* as cunning and heroic.

If you can vote in Ireland's Presidential election next Friday (Oct 24th) make sure you do. Polls open from 7am - 10pm. Turnout is key. Voting is a privilege.

Don't think anything is won if you don't go out and vote.
Instead of giving us reasons why Heather would actually be a good president, it seems the sole focus is just to attack Catherine's character. It's almost as if... there's no reason why Heather would be a good president...

In #NatureRestoration forums I’ve heard the aim, “Ensure that biodiversity gets the same standing in public, media & politics as climate” which strikes me as: 1. Setting the bar very low. 2. Identifying #ClimateAction allies as competitors.
Sport gets massive media coverage. Set that as the bar!!

When Obama was president the right wing acted like masked government agents were coming to kidnap them and take all their rights away.

Then Republicans get elected and actually do that shit for real.
