Half my coworkers at Taco Bell are homeless. Some live in their cars. One guy literally lives under a bridge. Apartments around here start at $2000/mo but I could rent a dilapidated trailer with plastic sheeting for doors for $850/mo
People are homeless because they can’t afford rent.
Because capitalism wrings out every piece of productivity from people while just barely maintaining their survival so they can continue to work.
Because suffering on the streets is a threat to make you go clock in.
It’s not a personal failure.

It was an honor to be with Sheriffs from all over Oklahoma and across the country as Canadian County Sheriff Chris West was sworn in as President of the National Sheriffs’ Association last night. I am proud to stand with these fine officers of the law as they fight to promote public safety.
