Books, travel, cats. Repeat. (aka enoughashley)
I am not sure if I have ever related to an author more.
I have been anxious for so long. It is like I am trying to break the world record for how long you can consecutively be anxious.

The Department of Defense deemed a story about baseball hero and civil rights leader Jackie Robinson's time in the Army as "DEI" and deleted it.

HEY.

HEY. Yes, you. 🫵🏾

DO NOT REACT TO EVERY PIECE OF NEWS. It is all trash. It is all a dumpster fire. They are flooding us with cruelty and 404 errors and Executive Orders.

Take a deep breath. It's only day 2.

Get back in your body. Log off even for 5 mins and stare at wall.

This is a marathon

Just saved this to return to again and again.
I wrote this for myself and posted it to my blog as a form of accountability to remind myself to avoid the outrage/despair cycle.

In honor of FDR’s CCC, I’m calling my rubric the 5Cs:

Cope/curate
Care
Connect
Construct
Challenge

Heller and Vonnegut. Always worth repeating.
With a bunch of douchebro loser billionaires in the news every day lately, this story has been on my mind almost daily.

An absolutely brilliant book. One of the type that I finished and immediately read through a second time so I could appreciate it even more. An absolute gem of vivid, strange, clever, angry thoughtfulness.

This post was a reminder - I just ordered the first three books I ever read of Aliette's - the Obsidian and Blood trilogy. Set in Aztec time (?) and place, and brilliant. Use that holiday $$ and pick up a new book! I did. 😊 x3 because I'm extra with books.
I hate doing that but with the current state of crisis (loved one in hospital + other stuff I won't go into), I'd love to have some income.
If looking for last minute Xmas presents, please consider my book? It has space jellyfish and martial arts and sapphic romance

“And sin, young man, is when you treat people as things. Including yourself. That’s what sin is.’

‘It’s a lot more complicated than that -’

‘No. It ain’t. . . . People as things, that’s where it starts.”

As well-meaning publishers try to navigate the coming storm of state laws against diversity, I hope they'll consider Timothy Snyder's Rule #1 (from his slim book ON TYRANNY).
