The exact plan isn't detailed in this article, but we know what the plan is: relegate as much of what the Department of Education does to the private sector so the rich can get richer — and because undermining education makes it easier for authoritarian regimes to rule.
Exclusive: The Education Department plans to move multiple parts of the agency to other federal departments, an unprecedented effort to dismantle an agency created by Congress to ensure all Americans have equal access to educational opportunity.
Trump administration to announce dismantling of much of Education Dept.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order in March seeking to close the department, but only Congress has the power to do that.

Every single news story about Trump hosting MBS at the WH today should include the tremendously lucrative business deals the Saudis have done this year with Trump Org to enrich Trump and his family personally, which is the primary reason why this is happening.

“Things happen.”

Things happen??

This amoral man has no sense of shame, but I am ashamed that our nation has foisted him and his depraved understanding of what matters in life on the rest of the world not just once, but twice.

Ye gods, what a travesty.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

I've mostly stayed out of the AI discourse bc while I have feelings, I haven't done a lot of research.

I will say this, however. I think the student use of AI lays bare what students think of education: It's a hoop through which they need to jump.

The adults have done that & we need to undo it.

That is simply intolerable. 3/3

Congrats to them for getting rid of them all!

Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

O. Good. Grief.
Breaking news: censorship isn't just for banned books anymore. My musical Between the Lines was cancelled due to the comments of a single parent.
Author @jodipicoult.bsky.social is being banned in two mediums this fall — her books and now a high school musical.

“It’s devastating... kids who put in hundreds of hours of hard work had that torn away from them because of the objections of a single parent,” she says.

Ya think?!?
the symbolism of “Trump destroying the White House for a overpriced luxury vanity project, during a government shut down, days after a historically-large mass demonstration against his regime called “No Kings”’ would be rightly viewed as laying it on a little thick if it was in a work of fiction
