Today was a solid reminder why I have forbidden myself from making career decisions in February and March.

Tomorrow will be better.

I hope.

Wow who could have ever foreseen a white woman using tears to manipulate power! I, for one, am stunned.

(Yes it’s good character detail.)

Bad Bunny’s beautiful and joyful portrayal of Puerto Rico stands on the shoulders of Kendrick Lamar’s love letter to Compton last year.

Watching the biggest performance in the world become a representation of real people in real, American places is beautiful. #SuperBowl

Dear white America,

Just a reminder that you can just keep your mouth shut if you don't understand a thing, especially when that thing is celebrating an America you often choose not to see.

Without naming your job, tell me something you say over and over again at work.

FAM. Please write this down. Mental deterioration does not cause racism. If you already racist, you stay racist.
Mental deterioration is not a precondition for white supremacy. White supremacy may just be the thing you don't hide anymore during the collapse.
Just want to say, I see all the comments saying it’s a sign of his senility or mental decline. You could be right but I have a thing about linking racism to mental acuity. Not sure it needs to be, most of the time, and I don’t like the idea of racism as deviant, for a lot of reasons.

Was driving my kids to school and the first thing on the radio was reporting about Trump's video depicting the Obamas as apes and I think many people still don't fully appreciate what it means to have to raise Black children in a country where the president is so brazenly and consistently racist

This is certainly very Christian of them.

“This feels like another pandemic.”

The superintendent of Duluth Public Schools says ICE is having massive negative effects on students and teachers. Some school districts are missing hundreds of students.

When will it be enough for Republicans to call for this to end?

Today, Virginia is the only U.S. state where someone convicted of any felony loses their right to vote for life, unless it is personally restored by the governor.

Lawmakers last month advanced a constitutional amendment to repeal that rule.

Spent even more time looking through the most thoughtful integrations of AI into writing instruction that I can find, & despite the clear care and intention being applied to these projects, I do not see advancements in writing pedagogy. I see novelty injected into the production of written artifacts

When are we going to institute hazard pay for drop-off duty in the AM?

Over winter break I learned about commonplace books. I decided we needed a community commonplace bulletin board. Students are able to post quotes or work of which they’re proud. Book reviews, suggestions, art.

Trying to find ways to make school seem more about learning than passing the next test.

We have a 2-hour delay tmrw. It's one of those times I think the division was damned if they did and damned if they didn't.

Our community doesn't have the resources to turn to remote instruction on a dime. K-6 kids don't have Chromebooks at home & in 2020, we had to give out hundreds of hot spots.

(hint for teachers: using AI to give feedback is the ultimate hint that you don't care about what you're reading and that is a lesson that student writers carry with them beyond your classroom so please don't do that)

I had an actual hero come by and save me. My friend and I were busy with our pick-axes and a guy with a one-man plow vehicle fixed me right up and refused any payment.

My actual hero.
We've reached the pick-axe stage of snowcrete removal. I should've asked my landlord if I could borrow one 2 days ago.

I don't remember where I bought my snow shovel, but it has done some amazing work over the last few days. It's not going to be able to finish the job. It wasn't made for snowcrete.

I know people are going to complain if/when the city is out the rest of the week. As someone who lives on a large secondary road, it's the sidewalks that are going to keep us out. My road has been pretty clear since yesterday.

The sidewalks are absolutely unsafe for kids to walk on.

Chanea is amazing! She does a great job explaining how AI will hinder a student's ability to develop the tools to read, think, & write critically. She's also able to really help her students understand that too. Isn't that the point of education: Learning about the world in which we live.
