There's a bigger play going on here. Slumlords coordinating with ICE to roust tenants, steal or destroy their stuff, damage the building so its uninhabitable. All to trigger legal expedited evictions, make insurance claims, and then sell to developers.

imho we are past the "we need to call fascism by name" stage. i personally like to think we are in the "high-ranking elected governmental officials use the power of their offices to forcefully reverse it" phase but i see this is an unpopular opinion among many said officials

Got in my spirk feels recently...I've been trying to find this fic I read years ago where a plot point is an enemy infiltrates the Enterprise & shoots Spock but because of his physiology, his heart isn't in the normal human location so he survives. I remember nothing else about this fic tho lol
