This set of observations is produced by my scrolling Reddit and otherwise listening to people talk about "how to write."

A) there is no requirement that any of your characters has any sort of "arc" let alone a redemption.

B) there is also no requirement that your fiction has a plot.

This is true and I was the only one on set excited about it (and playing the song on my phone to blank stares)
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

I remember when women couldn't have credit cards, before 1974. This is why education is important. All must remember... none of this is ancient history.

Also, the naiveté behind "I don't know why these companies are degrading the quality of their services and maintaining their level of profit instead of lessening their level of profit and maintaining their quality of service," explains a lot about why we are where we are.

My own anecdotal experience is that if you can make a woman laugh, feel valued, and also make feel like her concerns are actually being listened to and (when requested) addressed, the female gaze when it comes to physicality is... forgiving.
This isn’t the female gaze. This is the male gaze. It’s men who are obsessed with the physicality of other men. Women, in the main, would much rather see a man who looks like he’d make himself a stack of buttered toast and let you steal a slice

On May 11, 1950, while working on the Rawlins National Bank in Wyoming, a construction crew unearthed a whiskey barrel that contained a human skeleton with its skull cap sawed off & an odd pair of shoes. Dr. Lillian Heath, now in her 80s, was asked if she knew anything about it...🧵
