The anti-DEI retreat means there are entire marketing departments that have never heard of lesbians
This week, Netflix will drop a western with Lena Headey and Gillian Anderson as warring matriarchs of opposing clans. Not a one of the dozens of media writers I follow online has ever mentioned this show, and yet its three-week-old trailer has over 1M views. Make it make sense.

I think if Canada wants to have a strong cultural identity we need to go back to doing what we're best at, making the weirdest fucking TV shows you've ever seen

I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

My neighbor Orpheus told me Hades keeps eating Eurydice so I asked how many Eurydices he has and he said he just goes to the railroad station and gets a new Eurydice afterwards so I said it sounds like he's just feeding Eurydices to Hades and then Hermes started crying.

the current US public usage "castrato" as the grand insult against their fascists is fascinating. like beyond the obvious reinforcement of hegemonic masculinity, truly what could be a better shorthand for "coward" than, uh, singers who got genitally mutilated as kids. bsky.app/profile/will...
The Founders knew Congress - especially the House - was the backbone of U.S. democracy. It should be a huge story that Mike Johnson, serving Trump, has all but shut it down

Somewhere along the way I lost the document where I was tracking all the direct instructional advice my mother gives me, but it has included:

- Don't open fire in a school cafeteria
- Never marry a gay man
- Don't cross a picket line
- Never curl your eyelashes on a PATH train

Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer are officially undecided as to whether this guy—who also spent $20 million of taxpayer money subpoenaing the gynecological records of the 13 women who credibly accused him of sexual harrassment—should be Mayor of New York.
Cuomo has went all in on the anti Arab and anti Muslim rhetoric and decided to laugh along to a "Mamdani would support 9/11" joke.
