What particularly sucks about all of this is that House Democrats held the line, the DNC held the line, goddamn *Schumer* held the line, and seven cowards in a caucus of 47 are going to cause the reporting tomorrow to be "the democrats cave."
We’re gonna eat you. With forks.

Excited to share Nona: a unifying multimodal masking framework for functional genomics.
Models for DNA have evolved along separate paths: sequence-to-function (AlphaGenome), language models (Evo2), and generative models (DDSM).
Can these be unified under a single paradigm? 1/15

Maaaaaany graduate students at CSHL have stories. I'll send them your way.
I tweeted once about him and was immediately called out by our PR. They sat me down and told me they knew he was problematic but that he brought in too much donor money for us to say anything bad about him.

Very real quotes about this paper -
“The most exciting, mind-blowing paper of the year!”

Genotype-level quality control substantially reduces error rates in population-scale whole-genome sequencing
Population-scale whole-genome sequencing data will contain many individual-level genotype errors, even after allele-level quality control (QC). We establish the need for genotype-level QC using UK Bio...

A massive, massive thank you to @hiwwright.bsky.social, @rnbeaumont.bsky.social, @drghawkes.bsky.social who all really drove this project to completion. Without them I would still be twiddling my thumbs shouting to the clouds about QC (I still will, but now you can read about it too!)

How do GWAS and rare variant burden tests rank gene signals?
In new work @nature.com with @hakha.bsky.social, @jkpritch.bsky.social, and our wonderful coauthors we find that the key factors are what we call Specificity, Length, and Luck!

Why do complex traits differ in their genetic architecture?
In our new PLOS Biology paper, we will try to convince you that two simple scaling laws drive differences in the number, effect sizes and frequencies of causal variants affecting complex traits.

Simple scaling laws control the genetic architectures of human complex traits
Genome-wide association studies have revealed that the genetic architectures of complex traits vary widely. This study shows that differences in architectures of highly polygenic traits arise mainly f...
