Sat in a cafe today listening to an American talking loudly about Bloody Sunday.

Apparently it happened in 1989 in Dublin and was inevitable after the Irish Army had been goading the British and bombing Britain since the 1940s.

I stepped in. Views were shared. Friendship were not made.

If you think the people who took Tolkien's meticulous notes and appendices and turned it into Rings of Power are going to screw up the Bond franchise then you're a cynical bastard.

INT. WAFFEN SS HEADQUARTERS - CORRIDOR - DAY

Two SS GUARDS stride towards one another from opposite ends of the corridor.

GUARD ONE: Heil Hitler!

GUARD TWO: Heil Hitler!

They both give a provacative gesture that resembles the controversial salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally.
Steve Bannon whipped up the CPAC crowd by talking about the possibility of Trump staying in office for a third term—and concluded his speech by giving a provocative gesture that resembled the controversial salute Elon Musk gave at a post-inauguration rally last month.
Steve Bannon Mimics Elon Musk’s VERY Controversial Salute
The president himself has suggested the idea of staying in office many times since moving back into the White House.

I'm aghast that Labour would do this. Aghast. It's a despicable thing to have done.
1. Quick 🧵 on the change to policy that, on the face of it, bans refugees from ever acquiring British citizenship. @sonial77.bsky.social has published a short article on Free Movement:

And I've done a follow up on my Substack:

New change to Home Office policy permanently blocks refugees from citizenship
Change is bad in principle and breaches the Refugee Convention

“My heart besieged by anger, my mind a gap of danger.
I walked among their old haunts, the home ground where they bled,

Till its oak would sprout in Derry where the thirteen men lay dead.”

Auschwitz was at the end of a long process. It did not start from gas chambers.

This hatred was gradually developed by humans. From ideas, words, stereotypes & prejudice through legal exclusion, dehumanization & escalating violence... to systematic and industrial murder.

Auschwitz took time.

Trump is a feral menace threatening our trade, our security and our democracy.
To NOT prioritise trade and improved relations with our own continent over trying to deal with that loose cannon would be completely mad.
Luckily most of us aren’t. Even in Clacton.

Absolutely enrages me that not a single person in or near power seems to actually want to work for the people anymore and simply want to line their own pockets and everyone else is a bunch of credulous idiots.
