if this Supreme Court nullifies the 14th Amendment then i don't really have any problems with Democratic officials ignoring federal law for the foreseeable future

at that point we're just in a state of exception

You know who’d make an excellent At-Large Councilmember: @erinpalmerdc.bsky.social! The last time this particular At-Large CM seat was truly open in a Democratic primary was way back on *September 15, 1998*! A 10-way race that Phil Mendelson won with 17% of the vote.

Run Erin run!

I feel like with the Netflix WBD deal, directors and screenwriters need to add a clause in their contracts that their films must be shown in theaters first or concurrently to streaming.

One of the things that annoys the hell out of me about Bluesky is half the user base is some person that took a polisci class in college or read a couple books by some vaguely left pundit and then post something they swear is a revolutionary political restructuring thought. No Janet, it’s a bad idea

They say never read the comments. Unless it’s three D.C. councilmembers (who are all running for higher office, two against each other) doing some debating on the merits of the expanded youth curfew on Instagram.

The misclassification of workers is wage theft. It's stealing from workers and the families and communities they support with their hard-earned money.

No employer should ever underpay their workers—especially not when that work is funded through generous public subsidies.
WORKER WIN: A construction company will pay $725,000 in restitution and penalties over wage theft.

Christian Siding illegally misclassified more than 200 workers at 16 projects and failed to pay prevailing wages at 3 DC-funded affordable housing projects.

In DC, what you earn is what you are owed.

Wendell hates RCV because he knows he probably wouldn’t have won his massively crowded primary in 2022 if it had existed then. Anita Bonds is the same way.
Update: Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder withdrew his bill that would have delayed ranked-choice voting in D.C., mostly over procedural concerns with his bill. Emergency legislation can't carry a cost, and there were arguments that Felder's bill would cost the elections board money.
NEWS: Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder is introducing emergency legislation that would delay ranked-choice voting, which is currently set to be rolled out in D.C. in 2026. His bill would mandate that Board of Elections conduct an assessment on what it would need to implement RCV.

Fun Fact: Kenyan McDuffie had to drop out of the 2022 DC AG race because he is not a practicing lawyer and thus was ineligible. DC, do you really want a mayor who isn’t even aware of basic procedural guidelines?
What do we think?

I think Democrats should double down on trans rights now. It's obvious that most voters don't care about it so you might as well stick with your principles and goad Republicans into focusing on it at the expense of everything else so they're the ones who look like freaks.
