Q: Are you affirming that you think President Trump is a fascist?

MAMDANI: I've spoken about--

TRUMP: That's okay. You can just say yes. I don't mind.

Really excellent point that often gets lost in the (deserved) mockery.

These things are not neutral arbiters of truth. They are easily manipulated extensions of the ideology of their creators.

The attempt to shove them into every conceivable knowledge space is an explicitly political project.
The grok stuff is pathetic but it’s also a perfect and undeniable illustration of chatbots as ideology. It’s no less true for chatgpt or other bots, but sometimes not as visible.

In retrospect, “zombie caveman” was the obvious direction for Primal season three and it’s embarrassing that we ever thought otherwise.

An old fav I've been thinking about lately, my story "The Daddy Thing" at @electricliterature.com

Some things I still feel extra pleased about even years later: the story's odd shape, the bats (obvs), the mother's tattoo, the vampire, the rhythm, & the inverted question marks

The hard part about writing an explicitly political novel is that you find yourself getting as caught up with the messaging and potential misreads as you do with craft.

You cannot talk about the loss of trans lives in this country or the continuing dangers trans people face navigating the world without talking about how most victims of transphobic violence are Black and brown.

On this Trans Day of Remembrance, we remember the bright and courageous trans people whose lives were stolen by hatred. Their absence is felt across our city.

We will honor them by building a New York where every trans person can live safely, fully and freely.

All this bitching about the lack of recognition for male fiction authors is insane considering that only one woman has won the NBA so far this decade. Like, can we acknowledge that the actual concern seems to be that less cishet white men are winning?

By my count there will only be one (1) trans character on all of the major networks and streaming services as of January 2026.
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...

This is what guys like Yglesias, and everybody else making hay about Kamala supporting transition care in prisons, want to happen everywhere.
EXCLUSIVE: A forced detransition policy had disastrous effects in one Georgia prison, according to the manager of the medical unit there.

The policy is on hold due to a court order requiring prisons to re-start hormone treatments for incarcerated people in GA.
