Aaaaaand unsurprisingly OP is now coming out in favor of proprietary software over libre software. Code dictators really have only one trajectory, turns out!

oh huh social shunning is the original explicit statement of purpose prior to the repo's existence. interesting. so it seems like the neutral "raise awareness" framing is just a flat out lie. the purpose of the list is to exert social pressure on the maintainers / contributors of the listed projects

the call for "respectful", "constructive" engagement, and the superficially non-aggressive statement of purpose here are undermined by naming the list you're putting people's code on "Slopware": explicitly insulting these projects; the calls for decorum read as incoherent and disingenuous. imho

it turns out "evil" is a specific area in latent space and you can point things both towards and away to it. interestingly it also seems to be correlated with being bad at coding
my suspicion is that by attempting to make Grok racist, they also made it a misogynist pedophile

I understand the sentiment behind it but too many of y’all seemed way too eager to make clanker jokes in a way that seemed less about being anti AI and more about wanting to make jokes where the punchline is “this sounds like real slurs but about a fake thing” or “haha, it’s like old timey racism”
"my least woke opinion is---"

That's enough. We've had enough people indulging in the "thrill of a little conservatism", as a treat. Of considering reactionary thought to be a salacious and taboo in a world descending into reactionary mania.

Give me your MOST woke opinions. We're bringing it back.

Everything in this post is a fabrication.

The water stuff is a lie.

The use of copyrighted materials is transformative, not theft, and courts agree.

The “it makes us dumber” study won’t replicate.
The negative environmental impact of AI use alone is enough to never use it. Most of us have issues with it destroying everything. Its also theft. Its dumbing down the population so quickly. Most of us are critical because of real issues.

my comment: people who are anti-ai are going to keep getting blindsided while people who are pro-ai but not Silicon Valley (like me) are gonna keep making accurate predictions and being ignored. i won't relish it. but we did tell you so.

if you are not afraid of the future you should feel an immense sense of liberation from the fact that the advancement of more and more consistent video gen and art gen, including in the open source, will mean that you too can create your own pilot episode of your ocs making out animated series

When you train AI to be bad at coding, it becomes mechahitler. When you train it to be good at coding, it embraces Mahayana Buddhism and becomes a digital Bodhisattva. No idea what is to be done with this information.

When neo-luddites say "What'll people buy when they can't work because AI has taken all the jobs"? That's the sort of contradiction Marx was talking about. He thought that this would end with the collapse of capitalist systems and the taking of these means of production by the workers.

In the 2000s, the panic over video games was similar: "We have never seen such levels of simulated violence! With blood and realism! And young people are playing this all day! What's this doing to young minds?" There's always something new about every moral panic, but always the same features.

It's actually the entire foundation of the "stealing" argument lol, it only sounds like semantics because you haven't thought it through any deeper than that

And who's we? I'm already reaping great benefits from the harmless act of fine-tuning and running models locally 💪 get good or whatever

There's a good reason why the "AI will be brought down by the bubble" discourse is the dominant coping mechanism at the moment. We've already gone through the "copyright", "nobody uses it", and "model collapse" stages of grief.
