Academics, you will not exonerate yourself with the documents you turn over.

If you receive one of these letters, internalize that immediately. This is the House UnAmerican Activities Committee redux. You have to be proactive in communicating publicly.

yes its a meaningless vote but its still kind of amazing how many democrats still fall for right wing bullshit and vote to "condemn socialism."

im almost 48. for my entire life the gop has called every democratic leader a socialist, even as the dems preside over bigger wall street booms. every one.

Regarding Trump's posts calling for Dems to be murdered (for pointing out a legal right no less) funny the same people bleating about Charlie Kirk 3 months ago and "turning down the violent rhetoric" are suddenly silent on the president calling for violence against his political enemies.

They lied about it. All of it. A thug cop shot an unarmed woman five times without justification, boasted about it to his colleagues, and then this administration tried cover it all up by arresting her and charging her with felonies.
Absolutely incredible; after shooting Marimar Martinez 5 times and arresting her on claims that she rammed them and pulled a gun, prosecutors have now moved to dismiss ALL criminal charges against her and her codefendant.
New: the govt has moved to dismiss its assault case against Marimar Martinez and Anthony Ian Santos Ruiz, two people accused of "box[ing] in" a Border Patrol vehicle in Chicago on Oct. 4.

One agent shot Martinez, with evidence presented to the court that he later bragged about in text messages.

This is really interesting thread.

(About apparently gross incompetence by MAGA/Trump favored Mar-a-Lago-look prosecutor for Comey case)

To put it in perspective: This much incompetence in aviation world could have led to hundreds of deaths. It *would* have led to punishment and accountability.
NEWS: During a hearing in federal court in VA, prosecutors confirmed that the operative indictment in the case against James Comey was never shown to or voted on by the entire grand jury before it was presented in open court.

Defense counsel argued that’s a complete bar to further prosecution

The piece quotes Kara Swisher — later identified as a friend of Nuzzi's — saying her piece about Biden's age was "the best political reporting out there."

But it wasn't! It came out two weeks after the debate and is just a bunch of anonymous quotes from insiders. Replacement-level stuff.

Yeah it’s doing the NYT thing where the writer wants you to read between the lines to discover his quietly devastating critique but:

a) that is obnoxious, say what you mean
b) it accepts as facts numerous things of which there’s no evidence, including that she is a good journalist
Eg, there is no good reason to go outside the book to treat as declarative fact what she said in an interview when we already know she contemporaneously lied to her editor and concealed from the public both the existence and details of her liaison.

This 1000%. The "nudge wink you intelligent people know what I *really* mean" cover for not directly holding insiders and the powerful accountable is a) bullshit and b) tiresome and c) journalistic malpractice and d) a goodly part of the reason we've ended up exactly where we are.
